Cup action takes centre stage on Tuesday night when Witton travel to League Two Crewe Alexandra in the Cheshire Senior Cup Second Round.
The original tie was scheduled to take place in December but was postponed due to Crewe’s involvement in the FA Youth Cup.
The two sides appear to have been paired together on a regular basis in the competition and invariably, the tie has more often than not gone in favour of the league club.
The last meeting at The Mornflake Stadium was back in 2015 and Crewe ran out comfortable winners scoring five without reply.
The Railwaymen tend to make use of their youth team in the competition mixed with a number of first team players but nevertheless, still full-time professionals and will provide a tough challenge.
With Witton in sight of the play offs, the game gives Jon Macken the opportunity to cast an eye over players in need of minutes but with the intention of still trying to progress in the competition.
Forthcoming league games against teams around Witton in the table, will obviously take priority but focusing on the game in front of them will always be in the minds of the players and management team.
Should the game be drawn after normal time, the tie will be decided on penalties.
Kick off at The Mornflake Stadium is 7.45pm.

Probably deserved more from the game for their endeavours and could’ve taken it to penalties atleast, if Will Igoe’s disallowed goal had counted.
Just got home, although we were beaten we gave an excellent account of ourselves.
Very good performance and the last 10 minutes Crewe couldn’t get out of their own half.
Speaking to a Crewe fan they had a strong side out.
If I was to pick one player out then I thought Kennerley was excellent, but all can hold their heads up high.
Excellent performance from Witton. I believe Crewe had a strong side out, we played some good football throughout the game.
We had a goal disallowed for offside, every player put in a good shift.
Even though we brought subs on it didn’t alter the style of play, we are a good footballing team.
I thought we played very well but undone by 2 pieces of excellent Crewe play, one a brilliant curling shot and the other a mazy dribble that was class.
But overall, we matched them and could have scored more than 2 ourselves. Well played lads keep this form up and we will be ok.
Spoke to some Crewe fans and they said they were quite strong. UTA
Crewe will now meet Nantwich Town in the Quarter Finals at The Swansway Stadium.
I was in line for the offside goal. It was close but just off if I’m honest.
Thought Ref was very inconsistent.
Six of the Crewe squad involved in the Senior Cup tie were involved in their League Two fixture at Mansfield Town on Saturday.
