Crook Town AFC v. Witton Albion(Emirates FA Challenge Cup Second Qualifying Round)

Witton look to continue their Emirates FA Challenge Cup campaign on Saturday afternoon, when they make the long trip to County Durham to take on Crook Town in the Second Qualifying Round.

The Northern League Division One side have already progressed through three rounds to reach this stage of the competition starting in the Extra Preliminary Round in early August, comfortably beating Marske United 4-1.

The following two games were much tighter affairs, a 3-2 success against Penrith then a 2-1 win against Ashington in the First Qualifying Round.

Their league form has been consistent winning seven games in a row before losing by the only goal at Penrith in midweek.

The two clubs have met once before, back in 1977 an FA Trophy Second Round tie played at Millfield Stadium which saw the North East side edge the game by the only goal.

Clubs from the North East have always proven to be tough, well organised opponents and Crook Town will be another difficult test for Witton.

Team selection will be interesting ahead of the game as Witton are likely to be without the likes of Vani Da Silva and James Hooper both cup-tied and a couple of others nursing injuries.

They will be looking to put in a positive performance and hopefully get the right result.

Kick off at The Sir Tom Cowie Millfield Stadium is 3pm.
