Crosfields v Witton Reserves

MID-CHESHIRE LEAGUE DIV 1 Saturday 18th March
CROSFIELDS FC V WITTON ALBION RESERVES
Final Score Crosfields 4 Witton reserves 2
I am afraid to say the reserves never got going today, on a pitch that did not suit their style of football, as the pitch was very uneven.
They couldn?t seem to change their play which is a new learning curve that will have to adapt to.
The game got off to a bad start with Leon Williams coming off after 6 mins with what looked like a broken bone in his right foot to be replaced with Gavin Smith, Things went even worse when after 15 mins, a ball was played into the Witton goalmouth, only for the ball to pop up in front of Brett Walker as he went down for the ball only for a Crosfields player to tap the ball in the net to make it 0-1.
Witton replied after 22 mins when Andy Hurst pounched to toe poke the equaliser.
After the break Witton went in front on 54 mins when Andy Hurst converted a penalty to make it 2-1
But 5 mins later Crosfields equalised after a mix up in the Witton defence, then things went worse when they were awarded a penalty on 67 mins to go 3-2 up,
Witton were now well out of the game, and couldn?t seem to get their game together, something that hasn?t happened for a long time.
The game was finally sealed when another penalty was awarded to Crosfields which they put away to make the final score 4-2
The reserves have a lot to learn from todays result, which can only stand them in good stead if they take it in that you have to adopt your play to suit the opposition and conditions on the day.
Team:Brett Walker, Matt Murray, Simon Hughes(Capt), Chris Jump(Danny Jarrett 74 mins), Gary Furnival, Rick Bailey, Stuart Tulloch(Will Hurley 78 mins), Sam McNutt, Mike Cartner, Leon Williams(Gavin Smith 6 mins), Andy Hurst. Thats a shame. From looking at the league table its going to be hard to keep up with Middlewich but its still a fantastic achievement.
