Darlaston Town v. Witton Albion

Saturday sees Witton travel south down the M6 when they take on Darlaston Town in a Northern Premier League West Division fixture.

Ben Harrison’s team will be looking to start another winning run following last Saturday’s home defeat to Shifnal Town.

A game that Albion perhaps should have had sewn up before half time, saw them concede in injury time at the end of both halves to fall to defeat.

Darlaston Town come to the U Lock It Stadium sitting second bottom in the table, having lost seven games in a row before last Saturday’s game at Nantwich Town was abandoned.

Their last victory was at the end of January when they beat promotion-chasing Lower Breck 1-0.

A lot of personnel changes including a new manager have taken place in recent weeks with experienced former football league player Exodus Geohaghon assuming the mantle following Dean Gill’s resignation.

With so few games left in the season, his aim will surely be to try and keep Town in the division but it’s a tough ask for him and the players.

Witton go into the game in twelfth place in the table following last Saturday’s reverse to Shifnal Town, which saw the Shropshire team complete the league double over the Albion.

The meeting earlier in the season saw Darlaston Town leave the U Lock It Stadium with the points following a 2-0 win, with both goals coming before half time.

Witton were delighted to announce that midfielder Kyle King has now recovered from his injury and has been getting games with North West Counties FC St Helens, and has rejoined the Albion on dual registration but it will take time for him to get back to how he was last year.

Joe Duckworth and Freddy Garbutt have now rediscovered their goalscoring form hopefully and Witton will be hoping they continue in that vain.

A good solid win, played very well first half and took chances on a blustery day and with a pretty poor pitch to cope with!

Second half they played a bit better but we wasted good chances to increase our lead but a clean sheet is great.

Nice friendly fans but not sure the ground is up to this league to be honest.
