Damn, sounds close, was it? Bit worrying, we need to put an end to this losing streak and soon.

Started off David v Goliath and finished up Christians to the Lions !

A depleted Witton side minus Newman and Booth more than held their own in the first half played in a strong wind and heavy showers and deservedly took the lead. Droylsden’s equaliser could well have been disallowed in another game as the ball was somehow bundled into the net.

2nd half saw Droylsden’s superior football take control and their second goal was a strike good enough to win any game. Harrison injured himself trying to stop the Droylsden goal and had to come off as did an obviously not fully fit Titch. Super Mike pulled up within minutes of his arrival to the game.

Wittoners must have made up at least 50% of the 304 crowd and gave great support throughout.

Back to the league campaign now and the growing injury list must now be a concern for the manager ?

It was always going to be a problem not having a big squad, hopefully the injuries are minor. We should take a leaf out of Spurs book on Wednesday, they won at WBA without in the "indispensible"Van de Vart and Modric and we can beat Fylde without a couple of our star players too. (Hopefully) Onwards and Upwards.

Can’t add anything more to Eli’s report really.

I felt we were very much on top until their goal, but second half only really one team in it. No disgrace at all - especially when you take into account the players we were missing going into the last 10 minutes.

The behaviour of some of the Droylsden players must have been an embarrassment to the manager, you have to wonder what they would have been like if they had lost!

Tough game Wednesday, but it’s still all to play for.

UTA.

Spitited performance by the Albs but Droylsden were a very good side. They had a lot of posession particularly in the second half and eventually it paid off. We played against the wind first half and then in the second it seemed to die off! So, not only did we have their team and the ref to beat but the gods as well! fANTASTIC SUPPORT THOUGH A CREDIT TO ALL WHO ATTENDED SBL

Lets be fair Droylesden are a good side strong well balanced withh good pace all over, however we were superb and each man gave everything its strange to be proud of a losing team but i felt every wittoner there was proud of the team and the club, it was always a hard ask for titch to carry the front line on his own but he did it brilliantly and the midfield worked there socks off to compete, on a different day with a couple of players fit and with a ref who would give a decision our way then we could cetainly have beaten them- 2 decisions to ponder on why was a foul not given for the first goal when coops was barged into dropping the ball and why was a penalty not given late on when titch was clearly fouled in the box when he would have turned and scored ? but these were the tip of the iceberg in his poor decisions mostly against us !!! :frowning:

I hope some of the injured lads return soon as with our small squad as we cannot carry too many missing, one other point from yesterday how good was Glover as an emergency centre half ? i was very impressed by him he is one for the future for sure.

Cmon Wittern

Great effort from witton, but I thought Droylsden just about edged it they passed the ball well when attacking and I thought they controlled the 2nd half. Think we missed Liam up front Tich worked his socks of but being on his own he was marked well by their defence .
Great support from our fans again , most of theirs must have gone to watch Man U .
Back to the main event on weds, lets get back to winning ways, hopefully Bens not too badly hurt.

Great effort yesterday from the players. I think if we’d have had Newman yesterday we might have had a better chance. We competed with them all game though and did ourselves credit.

Thier number 11 was a disgrace. To bait the Witton following the way he did smacks of arrogance (He was the captain wasn’t he?!)

Great support too, we must have had 150 there yesterday, I do love little stands with low roofs, the sounds carries a long way. That said, 2 sides of their ground wouldn’t look out of place in the NW Counties League.

Garbage club.

Massively proud of the lads efforts on the pitch yesterday.

The officials were just like those at Alty where every decision seemed to favour the team with the higher league status. As an example the 4 kicked out at Josh early doors in a similar challenge that cost Josh a red card aganst Barrow. The 2 swung an arm in full view of the referee and in both cases no action was taken. We had a couple of strong penalty shouts ignored and some of the ‘advantages’ that he played for us were ridiculous (would love GEs thoughts)

Droylesden played very well 2nd half and surely Coops was mom?

I love the optimism of our supporters and posters on here and the fact that we thoroughly expect to turn up and beat every team we play regardless of status and budgets available. Sometimes a reality check is needed and these teams operate at the level they do on merit no matter how much we don’t like it.

If only the EUFA Financial fair play laws were brought into non-league!!!

Vics would not exist if that happened.

a very spirited performance from a somewhat depleted albion, but a performance that would have produced a result on another day. this young witton squad just amaze me with their never say die attitude, not to mention their footballing skills. so now it is back to the bread and butter of league football, so come on all you reds get down to the h4h stadium on wednesday to show your appreciaton of the excellent cup runs the lads have given us, and to cheer them onto possible league glory. come on witton.

Regarding the refs performance on Saturday - within the laws of the game he couldn’t do anything other than caution the No.4 for the challenge just outside the penalty area.
Regarding the back kick on Josh, however, in his & his assistant’s defence I think they were both following the play down the slope.
However, whilst I didn’t see the incident with the No.2 and Matty Wood, due to the large crowd under the shed, I’m told that he lashed out at Matty.
Clearly Mr Scregg saw it and chose to calm things down. As he had set his stall out in the first half to caution for late challenges (ie their No.3) I was therefore disappointed that, having seen the intent, the No.2 should have seen the red card.
I’m sure the Barrow referee would have acted differently.

Whilst not wishing to over-criticise I leave you with a possible scenario that Mr S. was probably on a football league line in the week (paying more money than a possible F A Trophy replay).

:woohoo:
