Eastwood Town vs Witton Albion

For supporters travelling to Eastwood on New Year’s Day, the admission prices should read: Adults £7, Concessions £5, Under 14s £2.

Apologies for the error printed in Saturday’s programme.

First of all id like to wish a happy new year to everyone connected to the club, esp jim, nigel and all the players  after spending many years away from the non league scene and only recently following witton again id just like to say the standard of football witton play is exceptional, far better than most of the league one stuff id been watching! anyway fingers crossed i shall be at eastwood tomorrow, im DJin in wakefield tonight til 4am but will set my alarm for 12 for the journey to nottingham, i hope to see a large following so no overdoing it tonight and sleeping in tomorrow  another 3 pts would be the ideal way to start the year  COME ON WITTON!!!PS is tracy coming?? ;D

Tracey is booked on the coach yes!

All the best lads! Let’s start the new year in the same way that we finished the old one.

Apologies that I can’t be there in person but I will be there in spirit! A throat infection prevents me from travelling but 3 more points will do very nicely.

I’ll give Tracy a knock on my way past to make sure she gets on the bus in time. I don’t want Yorkshire Red dissapointed!!

Match pointers
JIM Vince returns to the Albion bench for the first time since Witton’s win at Worksop on December 8. His side have garnered 10 points from a possible 12 since then to sit 13 points clear at the top of the table.

He is unlikely to shuffle the pack too much for the trip to play-off hopefuls Eastwood, who boast one of the best home records in the division so far this term.

Neil Wood missed the win over Buxton but is unlikely to displace star man Rob Lloyd from the starting line-up. Mark Peers should be preferred once more to Kyle Wilson. Alex Brown is ready to play again but his return has been pencilled in for next the UniBond League Challenge Cup tie with Curzon Ashton at the weekend.

Albion will also have to hope the Club of the Month curse does not strike after they were picked as the best team in the UniBond Premier for December.

Opponents Eastwood are on a roll after taking seven points over the holiday period so far to cement their place in the top five. Paul Cox’s men are four points clear of Guiseley although have played three more matches.

This week he paid tribute to Vince’s title favourites.

"With Witton it’s a case of who is going to stop them," he told the Eastwood Advertiser.
"The table doesn’t lie and they’re up there because they are the best team in the league, but we tend to play very well against the top sides so we’re capable of getting a result."

He will be forced into a reshuffle as influential defender Ricky Hanson is serving a suspension, but otherwise he should be able to call on a full-strength squad.
