England.

Sticks in my throat as he is a scouser and plays for you know who but I admit it, Rooney is a bloody genius when it comes to scoring vital goals. We may not be World beaters but we are in the Finals and we should do okay with a bit of luck on our side, and Rooney!!
WHS.

We really are not very good, thevdefence and midfield lacking badly at the highest level ! And upfront just ok nothing more, struggle to get excited about this England team under Hodgson.

What amazes me is the tv pundits and others saying what a fantastic result this was. Yes we won but back in the day we would put minnows like Slovenia to bed 5 or 6. Having said that I’m not sure if its how far we have fallen or if these smaller nations have improved considerably over the last couple of decades, a bit of both I guess.

Loads of top nations losing to minnows nowadays. Not long ago Greece were European Champions, now bottom of their qualifying group, Holland may not reach the finals and Spain and Germany not flying either. We, on the other hand are “Done and Dusted” and have several players to come in, Sturridge, Kane, Oxlaide Chamberlain, etc. Not a great team I will grant you but neither were the Danes when they won it and Greece were a total surprise. Do not lose the faith, they are young, they may well come good.

Fair points WHS. But have to say if we didn’t qualify from the group we got drawn in we might as well pack in now!

Totally agree Paul, but we are qualifying very easily and no group is particularly difficult.

Have to say what a refreshing change it is and an absolute delight to see England playing with such determination, skill and pride recently, they are an absolute credit to the nation. If only the mens team could do the same…

Dead Right. But what on earth is wrong with us? Our men’s teams are nothing to really get excited about and haven’t been since 1966!! maybe 1996 but we lost then too. Now are junior team are dumped out of a European Championship. Our football needs a lift, maybe the girls can give it one.
WHS.

And they did!! Semi Final against Japan, so all we have to do is “Lump It” forward as there players are smaller than ours!! Best of luck girls, do us proud and win the damn thing!!
WHS. :clap :clap :clap :clap

Whose watching the German V USA semi tonight and England V Japan tomorrow night?
WHS.

Seems our girls have no more luck than our lads!!
WHS.

It’s not luck it’s lack of ability and winning mentality !

Agree to a certain extent CJ however I’d argue England were the better side on Wednesday night and we certainly were when the Germans knocked us out of the world cup in 1990. We don’t seem to get the rub of the green very often it has to be said.

In fairness the penalty we got wasn’t one. But the girls did us proud, no one expected them to get out of the group never mind make the Semis. Good luck against Germany ladies.
WHS.

We’re ranked 3rd in the world! So we got where we should have. But it’s the performances that were the most impressive thing for me pride, passion and they gave it a real go. I hope the men’s side took notice as they’d learn a hell of a lot about what it means to represent your country.

6th actually mate  Agree with the rest of your post though!

I watched a couple of the games and although impressed with some of the ability i feel Witton would beat them, i had this argument with a lad at work who feels they would hold their own in league 2!
How do other Wittoners feel we would do against them?

A few of the girls showed a touch of class but most were average at best, but saying that they probably would have give us a game last season

Like comparing Men’s and Women’s tennis, totally different but both great to watch.
WHS.

I think we should look at forming a women’s football team. It would certainly get support and surely, would raise the club’s profile both competition wise and financially.
