Evo-Stik Challenge

Myself and Drew Haspell have signed up to represent Witton Albion in the Evo Stik Challenge this June.

This is a 230 mile bike ride from Wembley to Blackpool over 3 days.

We leave Wembley at approximately 8.30am on Thursday 14th June, cycling 90 miles on the first day.

On day 2 we cycle a further 90 miles, before completing the challenge with a leisurely 50 mile tootle in to Blackpool on the Saturday!

The idea behind the Evo Stick Challenge is for representitives from each club across the 3 divisions to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Trust.

The Challenge is also being backed by Arriva North West and Doodson Sport, and the organisors are hoping that all 66 clubs will be represented.

To enable us to take part we will need to raise £500 each in sponsorship, so we would appreciate any assistance in meeting this target.

We will have sponsor forms with us for Witton’s remaining home games, and I will have one in the Club Shop.

The intention is to raise money for the MS Trust whilst also representing Witton. It’s going to be tough, but hopefully we will do the Club proud!

Further information is available on the Evo Stik League website.

Put me down as a sponsor for you both m8, will see you next game I can get too. Very good cause and well done for volunteering and flying the flag for the albs B)

I can see the Vics contingent beating you and then getting demoted back to Stoke when it turns out they only had 95% of their sponsorship.

Put me down for 50p mate

Good luck with your ride.

If the challenge allows you to, my advice is to set up an online donation facility. I’ve used justgiving.com when I’ve done bike rides for Leukaemia Research. On the plus side people can donate immediately which saves the hassle of chasing people for money. There is a cost representing 5% of any donation.

This is how the unfortunate London marathon runner who died in the race has raised £750,000 posthumously. I’m not suggesting for one minute that you need to make “the ultimate sacrifice” in your quest but it does show how powerful a fundraising tool this site can be.

Hope that helps.
