No, those are odds for winning the title.
Odds for being relegated will be different.

I realise that but was merely implying what the odds meant by reverse logic we will be near the top of the relegation odds and i dont think thats right at all.

I think its good, the higher the odds the better for WHS’s syndicate the proceeds of which to go to the players bonus/club generally at the end of the season if we can get enough interest. Although I have to agree that there are several clubs with much shorter odds that I’d like to think we might finish above.

I think we are underestimating ourselves. There is rarely a lot of difference in overall quality between one league and another, we proved that several times last year in the Cups. I believe our chances of winning the league are much lower than 40-1, I thought we might get 20-1 at best. As for the play-offs, if we can get 10-1 I think we should hammer the Bookies!!
WHS.

Do we have a great side? Yes.
Do have a great management team? Yes.
Are we going to win the league? No.
Can we get into the play-offs? There’s an outside chance.

I appreciate the optimism but I think we have to be realistic. I don’t mean to p*ss on the parade but I’d accept a mid-table finish in a heart beat.

Anyway, many of these odds will be guesswork. I doubt the bookies spend a great deal of time compiling Evo-Stik odds.

Agree with this. From an odds perspective, 40s seems long after last season, but realistically, its only worth a fiver punt.

I cannot believe how downbeat so many of you are. Apart from Titch we have the same side as last season so unlike past years we will not be still sorting out a team and a system of play in October! Other clubs will still be building their teams whilst ours will be “Up and Running”. Do you really have so little faith that you think we are not as good as Nantwich, Marine, Kendal, Chorley, Eastwood and even Hednesford? We had enough great results against higher league opposition last year to surely prove the lads we have are more than up to the challenge and going by what our Manager is saying he is MORE than sure they have. So let’s be POSITIVE; we are the top team in town, the only team in town! and we can beat any sons of b’‘’''s who come to Wincham Park, including FC United!!
WHS.

Downbeat or realistic? I’m all for optimism but at the same time we have to be realistic about our chances. We finished 3rd last season with Titch! Losing a player who scored 39 goals is always going to be a loss no matter who you are. A few teams have been busy in the transfer market and have larger budgets. Realistically would agree with Left Pegger. If we build ourselves up too much and at xmas we’re not in a playoff position people will come on here and start moaning that we are under performing. So I for one will be hoping for a mid table finish. Anything better has to be considered as a great achievement and you wouldn’t put that past our great club.

UTA

Yes.

I’ll snap your hand off now for anywhere between 6th and 12th.

We may have finished 3rd but does anyone doubt at the end of the season we were best team in the league by a mile? We still have that team minus one player, Titch was good but so were the rest of the lads, have faith we will do really well.

Feel free to stick your life savings on it then. We’ll see…

Not my life savings but a Tenner will be going on tomorrow, £200 of the winnings to the lads if they do the business, not a bad incentive. Imagine if 20 of us did it, £4,000 is not a bad pot for the lads to aim at. We may well lose but it will be fun watching the lads “go for it”! (By my estimation at least £500 a man, not a bad incentive!)
WHS.

I thought this was just abit of fun to make the season a little more interesting  Does anyone really care if they put a tenner in and lose it? What is a tenner nowadays, times aren’t that hard are they that you would miss it? :silly:

Have to agree that top ten is a realistic target, but like I said this was just meant to be abit of fun :stuck_out_tongue:

A tenner is just the entrance fee to one home game. (Okay, I know it is £9.) Pretend we are in a league with 24 clubs and you would have another £18 to find, spend £10 on the bet and the £8 on pies and chips!!
WHS.

I personally Cant wait for the first game, lets get that bet on, I think we will outperform again to be honest but Im not setting any expectations lets just enjoy the roll.

Win or lose I intend to enjoy it. One thing is certain, no team will try to play attractive football more than we will.
WHS.

I was happy with tenth place last year.

This year i will be happy with bottom eighth.

I fancy Worksop to make the play-offs this year and United to finally get promoted in whatever way.

The next couple of years will require all Wittoners to cut the slack on the management team.

Agreed.

Pritch has proved himself. Now he needs to be given time to build.

I’m just glad we wont be playing North West Counties this season
