FA Cup

So what news? Should I book a flight to London for May…?

Ah, I see not…

According to Andrew Simpson, the best we have played this season, comfortably the better side, robbed of a penalty in injury time.

I can’t agree with Simmo, the first half was a real non event . Their keeper had almost nothing to do and the goal was a real mix up which we should have cleared on at least 2 occasions. From my point of view we were good for around 20 minutes in the second half around the equaliser - which was a class finish. Apart from that, and a good couple of late efforts that their lazy keeper roused himself for, I was not impressed.
I’m getting fed up with ‘taking the positives’ out of games we should have won. Ashton were no big deal, we’re out of the cup and this is a season of struggle already. There is a lot of discontent among the faithful and i am now almost expecting us to lose games, which is not a good sign. Two more un-neccesary goals conceded and. as usual, we’re always playing catch up. After they scored the penalty there should have been a strong response and there wasn’t until it was too late.

dont go to games as much as i’d like but i feel for the fans spending hard earned cash.maybe we’ve been spoilt the last 2 seasons and punching above our weight.UTA.

It’s nothing to do with spending our hard earned cash,it’s about being there for the team . A few of us on the bus today didn’t finish work til 7am this morning but after a few hours kip we were there loud and proud.
The last two seasons have come and gone its now that’s important!!!

if you’ve not got the cash then you can’t be there for your team.

But that would apply if the team were top of the table as well would it not?

Apart from the goal and Hughes effort late on, there were no positives to take from that. Too many players under performing . One or two arriving here with a good reputation are certainly not doing it for us , as I’ve seen them play far better for rival clubs in the past . Straight forward enough pull your finger out lads , your better than this , and this really isn’t good enough .

rabbit if your top or bottom does’nt make any difference.what bit of not having enough cash dont you understand.if the albs were top would i be richer?

We’re all grateful for any fan that turns up. Be it week in week out, when they can or as a one off. Lots of factors contribute to weather people can attend. It just happens that when you’re not doing as well as we’d hoped you hear about it more. Attendances are down this year but they have been for pretty much everyone in our league. Next Saturday is families for a fiver. So hopefully we can all get down get behind the lads and turn our season round.

Your implication seems to be that people are wasting money on watching the team but my point is they would spend the same the same if we were flying high.
Instead of worrying about others cash flow situations perhaps you should put your energy into getting behind the team when they need you most.

We are in danger of being in a vicous circle - losing side - losing fans = lower budget etc, IMO we need to sort out a decent striker from somewhere and if we have to sacrifice a midfielder to do this then fine i know which one id get shut off ! then put his wage to the departed Fosters/Tuckswages ( I know we have the injured gain Thompson and Gardner but neither of them will be good enough long term ) and see what we can get - I know we are missing a few other players from the last 2 seasons but the significant difference is 2 years ago we had Tichener/Stott etc on fire - last season Tuck and Foster in spells in very good form scoring goals now we only really have Wilson who is pedestrian in comparison with a good partner he might be ok but we need above all else a striker who can dominate a game and if we have pay good wages then thats what we have to it might just save our season which is in danger of dying very early on ! another £5 on the lottery is in order I think !

seems if you go to more games your opinion is more valued or the only one worth hearing.

Well Personally I like to hear everyones opinion, the discussion is good and stimulates thoughts and interest so keep posting mate you might upset one or two but Ive been through that hoop its a forum after all and I now wont be stopped from posting by others happy if they disagree with me and even occasionally someone might agree with you !!!

Absolutely not. As CJ says its a forum and sometimes people will disagree but that’s half the fun isn’t it?!

I think we were “punching above our weight” in the Conference and Wembly days, we shouldn’t be struggling in this league in my opinion we’re too good a club for that. We will get there though, not the best start but still very early days and a few wins on the bounce will get us back in the mix  UTA

Got to agree with CJ’s posts. Spoke to some one yesterday (Sunday) who said that there isn’t one of the new players who would have got into the side in our promotion year or our play off year last season. Its not surprising then to see that we are where we are. A low position in the league and dumped out of the FA cup by an average workman like side. Needs sorting! SBL
