Just wonderd if anyone recognises anyone from this pic, apparently taken in 1967.
Is that not tipping out time at the swingin witch, last week. LOL ?
Any idea where this was taken? Although I wasn’t born until a good few years after this, I do have one of those hooped bobble hats knocking about somewhere.
Central Ground, behind the goal to the right as you entered via the main entrance.
It was taken behind the goal at the Central Ground on the big grass bank where myself, young chad and a few others used to spend many happy saturday afternoons playing football as the match was going on, occasionally getting a roasting when one of us booted our ball onto the pitch. happy days. This was taken the year I was born
So you meant '57, not '67
just remeber the holiday snaps I have of you Mr T , they could be the next ones I post.
You can’t trust that Armstrong!
Think we could have a section for pics of ‘Albion Shirts Abroad’. I know I left one pinned up in a bar in Kardamena a few years ago.
Should be making my ‘comeback’ this week, hoping toget to Alty but will definitely be there on Saturday, so see you soon Picko.
I used to get involved in the odd kick-about on the grass embankment back in the early 80s but I can’t remember the houses, although I was too small to see over the wall at the top.
the houses behind the goals were in ash st and oak st. them houses are still there today. along with i think, a section of that wall where the p#sstone was.
The fan with the umbrella is the late Colin Cooper and the late Sid Burrows with glasses to his left.
Don’t recognise anyone but it still brings back many memories as that was round about the time I first started watching Witton.
Witton fans used to congregate behind that goal before kick-off and if we won the toss we would attack that goal in the first half and the old social club end in the second half.
And if it was 1967 then the REAL Eli Gorton would have been on the pitch.
I know the houses, so that’s corner where the tea hut was? You could see that part of the ground looking from the footbridge at Verdin Park.

Second thoughts on that - it could be a load of green slime fans
3rd thoughts - that is the late Colin Cooper with the umbrella and the late Sid Burrows with glasses to his left.
And i think that is the late Ken Dodd from Rudheath on Coiln Coopers right and is that not Fred Hornby with cap on the right of photo ?
Is Tricky not on there? Big Witton fan that he is.
