Witton team news and latest score updates will appear here as and when they become available
Albion 1 - 0 up, Foster.
Match abandoned after 11 mins, waterlogged pitch. Seems a very strange decision to call it off so soon after the start, did the pitch condition change that much?
Whats goin on?

Match abandoned after 11 minutes - waterlogged pitch.
Whilst I accept the decision to call it off the attitude of the stewards and club staff after let FC down.
It’s a huge shame as Gigg Lane is unlikely to see an atmosphere like that again this season
why what happened?
After much discussion on the pitch, the referee decided at 02:45 the pitch was just about playable, and that the game would start.
However, the rain strengthened during the next 25 minutes, and large areas of service water started collecting in many areas of the pitch. At 03.11, the referee took the players off the pitch, and abandoned the game.
Obviously, we Wittoners were annoyed, as we were 1-0 up.
Mark listened to several Witton supporters concerns after the game was abandoned on 11mins.
He was quick to explain to fans that they should collect vouchers, which could be used to gain free entrance for whenever the game could be re-arranged.
Some fans went further, to ask what were they supposed to do if they can’t get to the re-arranged game?
Mark took the unprecedented step of agreeing the following with FC United of Manchester:
a) the vouchers can be used to gain free entrance at the re-arranged game.
b) if for some reason you cannot attend the re-arranged game, then you can present these vouchers to the Witton Albion office at either the Nantwich game on Tuesday 1st January, or the Ilkeston game on Saturday 5th January 2013, where you will be re-imbursed the cost of your entrance to todays game.
Well done Mark AGAIN
and thanks to FCUtd of Manchester, as for the stewards and officials my perception were that they were a very
damn sight better than most other clubs in this league and above.
Any chance of getting our £3 for parking back?
Ask Bury FC pretty sure you know what the answer will be, petrol or diesel costs I don’t know may be the chancellor will reimburse you. May be the rain was an act of god, could be something to do with Christmas. No Christian god then no boxing day fixtures so its
all his fault. Get a grip  Sometime I despare.
What really pis*&s me off with these so called league clubs is the money grabbin way they try to suck every bleedin dime from you with a take it or leave it w*&k attitude. £3 to park and £1 to get into the poxy hole of a supporters club, which wants condemin… . “Its £8 to come in but it might not be on” said one pleb! The pitch would have made Pete Robinson top himself!!! We got a voucher for free admission for the replay but I guess another £3 will be required for supporters parkin? I don’t see why our top Chairman should be makin excuses for FC United. Its their job not ours. My advice to FC United would be get your own ground, sort it out properly and get away from that dump! SBL
Lets he honest the decision to START the game was a joke. Any referee who at 2.45 with the rain coming down who believed that the pitch would have been playable ten minutes later needs their head testing
I’ve heard that you can’t call a game off based on what might happen -DOH! It’s hardly playable at 2 o clock and then it starts raining…as per the forecast!!! At half 2 they should have stopped people goin into the ground and the ref shud hav grown a pair-but nice old Witton, cuddly little Witton say tickle our belly n feed us crap cos we’re naive and come from the countryside! Well done to the officials after the game- BUT should never have been put in that position.

Agreed. have to say I thought the stewards did a good job - vouchers were freely available for the rearranged fixture and Neil quickly let us know that we could exchange these if necessary. Not sure what anyone could’ve done better; FC were well prepared for what happened.
Bit of a disappointing day, improved somewhat by Stoke’s dominant performance tonight
Well done MB I am getting rather annoyed .of some of the whingeing WAFC fans No laughs mooney.
PS and some of the football management agree with me.
Can we all just take a deep breath, calm down and sleep on this before somebody says something they will regret. The rights and wrongs are there for all to see and there are loads of different views on what happened or didn’t happen today. I hope we are all agreed we are gutted and frustrated that we didn’t play and full credit to all fans, the noise and support was incredible in the short time before and during the 11 minutes played!
Have slept on it and now know it was a rubbish decision then and a rubbish decision now
Anyone with half an eye at half past 2 would Never have started that game-sorry for not toeing the party line but p poor decision making IMO.
Of course I’m going to moan and if like me you had driven down from Blyth to make the game. I’m pretty sure you would have felt the same way.
Shame it wasn’t played at Polands stadium as they could have put the roof on  I thought it was a strange decision by the ref to start the game as the pitch was only going to get worse and only he can be blamed for that decision. For me the stewards/fc officials handled it well by giving out the vouchers straight away. And the part refund on the supporters coach was a very nice gesture too, well done to all.
Anyway it was good to have a few boxing day beers with the witton faithful and to get back in time to see the spurs smash villa. Every cloud and all that.
Wrong decision to start the game.
Right decision to stop the game.
Witton fans experience with the staff and officials at FC will obviously differ depending on who they spoke to - everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
The correct decision has now been made in regards to refunds for those who cannot attendthe re-arranged fixture.
Everyone is entitled to moan if they want to - it was very disappointing.
However, let’s not argue over it.
The main thing is, Witton won 1 nil.
