FC United v Witton Albion (Saturday 4th October)

 Some information which I trust will be of use to supporters intending to travel to Saturday’s forthcoming league game against F.C. United of Manchester.

Car Parking

It’s approximately 30 miles from Wincham Park to Gigg Lane. By road take the A556/A56 to Stretford (via Altrincham), then left on to the M60 to Junction 17 (signposted Whitefield), then north along the A56 towards Bury. Gigg Lane is on the right four miles after leaving the motorway. For those with SatNav the postcode is BL9 9HR

Cost for parking on the ground is £3.00. Same price at the nearby St. Luke’s Primary School.

Please note that unless you have a resident’s permit, on street parking is no longer allowed in the near vicinity of the ground.

Public Transport from Northwich to Bury

Best value is probably a Greater Manchester Wayfarer ticket. Cost is £9.20. It’s valid on the train from Northwich to Altrincham and then on the Metrolink tram from Altrincham to Bury Interchange and on the bus for the one mile hop from Bury Interchange to the ground. (The 135 bus is probably best).

There are trains at xx35 each hour from Northwich to Altrincham, journey time 26 minutes, change at Altrincham for a tram to Bury, onward journey time is a further 48 minutes. So if you get the 1235, depending on connections, you’ll be in Bury for around 1400.

Please note that if you stay on the train to Manchester, there are no trams to/from Piccadilly Station at the present time due to engineering work.

All trams from Altrincham go directly to Bury.

Admission at Gigg Lane

Gigg Lane is all seated. Prices are £7.50 (Adults), £5-00 (Concessions), £2-00 (Under 18s). Albion supporters will have their own seated section on the left hand side of the main stand. Match programmes are £2.00. Match poster at the following link <>

What are F.C. United supporters like?
Noisy, but friendly and very much looking forward to the return fixture at Wincham Park in January as it’s a Saturday 3 p.m. fixture!

rilliant information, well done

Arguably the most enjoyable away day this season. No reason why we shouldnt have 100+ travelling to this. We should pick out one of these pubs and all meet about 12 ish??

 The ever-helpful Voxra from F.C. United suggests that the Rose & Crown is very nice and they open at noon on a Saturday. Address is 36 Manchester Old Road, Bury. BL9 0TR which is about half-way from Bury Metrolink station and the ground.

See map.

Hoping to make this my first game of the season (been doing lots of wedding discos so far this season!!)just been on uTube watchin clips of the fcum fans and boy they make some noise so lets sing our hearts out on sat, its gonna be a great atmosphere and hopefully 3pts for us:)

If any among you have an original flag, you’ll be more than welcome to bring it along and display it. We do like to see a decent show at Gigg Lane.

‘Pritchard enclosure - We’re in the Pritchard enclosure’

Yox has got a flag to bring…oh, no hang on - he lost it…!!

Is it too late to get one made with “The Malcolm Glazer Enclosure” on it??

 And then burn it, yep, why not?! How to make friends, eh?

P.S. Update on the train/tram fare, an off-peak day return from Northwich to Bury Metrolink, route Altrincham, is priced at £7.20, so is cheaper than a Wayfarer ticket, but obviously it wouldn’t be valid on the bus for the short hop from Bury Interchange to the ground.

But how many pubs are there along the route from station to ground?!?

 At least seven according to the information that Voxra provided, although if you do decide to visit all of them, I guess that it may not necessarily then be the most direct route from the station to the ground!

i have heard its a good 20-30 min walk from interchange to ground

 It’s just under a mile, and mostly downhill. N.B. It’s about the same distance as it is from Northwich Railway Station to Wincham Park.

Many thanks Peter M for the information provided so far. I have provided some information that will be included in tonight’s programme for Saturday.

The FC United website gives the cost of Matchday Programmes as £2.50 so I will offer my apologies now if this information proves to be incorrect.

 Programmes are definitely £2.00. If you can’t make the game on Saturday and want to order a copy on-line, the cost is apparently more because of handling costs that the likes of Nochex charge.

Apologies to everyone for any confusion caused.

Ooh, that one includes ‘Kyle Wilson In Profile’. Can we get any copies for the Club shop?!

I must admit that I’m a little surprised to see him as the leading goalscorer in the league. I thought he did ok for us in the short time he was here but perhaps we didn’t see enough of him.
