Whilst our discussions are mainly around whether or not we will make the playoffs, it seems the list of clubs either gone to (or shortly going) to the wall grows ever longer. With Chester and now Farsley seemingly gone, there is a long list of other clubs including our near neighbours who are standing on the precipice. I appreciate that whilst we are not without our own issues, we have survived because we have tried to make the wage bill fit our income and through the good work of the people who run our club. For that they deserve our support and our whole hearted thanks.
So whilst we desperately want to get out of this league and we all crave the success that has so cruelly eluded us at times over the past few years, at least we are here and fighting. Whilst I have sympathy for all the supporters of these clubs, it should also be remembered that they gained their successes by in part spending money they didn’t have. Now its the day of reckoning the question is - was it worth it?
You have got to be ambitious in life or it’s not worth living - I would rather be consolidating our status in the Unibond Premier than this bl**dy awful league,it’s soul destroying !
Quite agree with the ambition, but what lengths do you go to achieve it?
Whilst I think we have underperformed as a club (last year especially !), to what extent were we beaten to promotion by teams in the recent past (Burscough and Farsley are examples) who lived for the moment and now can’t sustain their position?
