Former Players

Had the pleasure today of bumping into Andy Grimshaw in a Hotel in Lytham.
We had a good chat about his days at Witton & has fond memories of his time with us & wishes the Club all the best for the forthcoming season.
Possibly the hardest midfield player to have played for the Albion, imo.

A great player for the Albs very fondly remembered by all Wittoners I am sure. UTA

Former Albion loanee goalkeeper Andy Firth, has signed for Vanarama National League Barrow following his release from Liverpool.

Former Witton striker Mark Buchan has signed for Kendal Town.

Former Witton central defender Sam Barnes, has joined Huws Gray Cymru Alliance Bangor City after leaving Colwyn Bay at the end of last season.

Aha, Bangor City, the latest acquisition of The Vaughans. Every club they touch have enormous problems (Barrow, Widnes RLFC, Chester City the club in Malta they bought too). Bangor were demoted despite finishing second in the WPL and qualifying for Europe for failing the licence due to not being able to satisfy finance/accounts issues. It’s not too difficult to find out about them and why on earth the Welsh FA let them get involved is a real mystery. Anyone including Sam would do well to distance themselves from this now toxic club (there’s is a fan boycott of home games) and it’s very sad indeed.

Yes, it’s a mystery how the Vaughan family are still allowed to be in football. Why do they insist on investing in football clubs? FA too soft? How long before we see little Jim back investing at a club near by??

Former Witton players Carl Peers & Karl Noon, were both named in the Bootle squad for their visit to Winsford United on Monday night.

Steven Tames scored both goals on his league debut in Bala Town 's 2-1 home win against Camarthen Town on Friday night.

Former Witton striker Jamie Rainford has signed for Widnes after leaving Colwyn Bay. Former Goalkeeping Coach Andy Robertson has joined Ramsbottom United, also providing cover for the first team keeper. Fomer loanee, midfielder Billy Reeves has signed for Stafford Rangers after being released by Port Vale.

One-time Witton striker Callum Hassan (remember him?), came on as a substitute for Colwyn Bay in their 4-2 away win at Atherton Collieries on Monday night - scoring the fourth goal with five minutes to go.

Former Witton midfielder Paul Williams has signed for City of Liverpool FC after joining Trafford in the summer.

Former Albion loanee Owen Dale has joined National League North, Altrincham on loan.

Former Witton midfielder Jake Parker has signed for Wythenshawe Town after leaving 1874 Northwich.

Ashley Stott is playing for Charnock Richard.

Former Witton Goalkeeper Matt Cooper has signed for Trafford FC after leaving Colwyn Bay.

When Trafford kicked off at Runcorn Linnets on Saturday afternoon, there were no fewer than five former Witton players in their starting line-up. Matt Cooper, Alistair Brown, Anthony Brown, Ross Davidson & Tom Schofield. There were also two named in the Linnets side Goalkeeper Dylan Forth and midfielder Michael Simpson.

Former Albion full back Liam Brownhill has rejoined one of his former clubs, Droylsden.

Former Witton central defender Anthony Brown has left Trafford due to other commitments and travelling difficulties.

Danny Graystone (remember him?), has left his position as Head Coach at Australian side Cairns FC. He was appointed in October 2017 after holding a number of coaching posts in Australian football.
