Forum

WHS - 1587 Posts (probably more by the time I have written this)

JAP - 97 Posts - all relevant, to the point, and with no mention of personal time and money put in. Well done Jim.

This is a forum, but its being dominated by someone who very recently described watching Witton in the Unibond as ‘a chore’, and now purports to be the voice of authority on all things Albion.

Come on WHS - to paraphrase - ‘Is your post really neccesary’

I think this post is out of order, and I request it to be removed.

Agreed TT

Any Wittoner is entitled to their opinion. WHS supports the club financially and personally. This forum is for people to write on, doesn’t matter how often.

I have to agree with CS.

Surely, anyone is entitled to post anything they want? Isn’t that the point? And to berate long-standing supporters serves no purpose in my opinion.

Before you say it CS - I’m not contradicting myself - you can post what you want but to “have a go” personally at a fellow supporter in such a way, in my opinion, is not on.

If you don’t want to read the posts from a certain individual, then don’t open the thread = ffs!

Or, do you want a deserted forum with tumbleweed blowing around?

Surely, at this time of the season, there are more important things to comment on.

Strange post CS, strange post.

I have to say that the views of Robbo and Stu have hurt. I only point out that I put in cash every now and again because I cannot make every match,in most of my comments on cash I readily say that others put in more money than I do, as for going off the subject, well that is my age coming to the fore. Why Robbo and Stu dislike me so much I can only put down to my “chore” comment many moons ago, but I am afraid that I was only telling the truth, Witton were awful and it was a “chore” watching them. I am not a big football supporter, I prefer Rugby, but I am, and always will be a “Wittoner”.
I hate this, I will not be writing on here again.
WHS.

WHS take no notice.

Stop playing into his hands Eli.

Nobody has ever said they dislike WHS, Cuddy was making a valid point earlier in saying if it’s not worth posting then why post it?

We don’t need to know when WHS can and can’t make it to matches. We don’t need to know when he does and doesn’t contribute money.

There are many Wittoners putting much time and money into this club, yet they don’t feel the need to tell everybody about it.

Nobody is saying don’t post WHS, but they are asking to keep it on-topic. Surely that isn’t too difficult?

We don’t need to know your reasons when you can’t make matches. We don’t need to be continually told how much you dislike football. We don’t need you to post the same questions or opinions on multiple thread - once will do.

We certainly don’t need to be told 200 times a season how Vics are going to go belly up in a week/a month/2 months/etc etc etc. Your fortune telling has been well off the mark for at least the last 5 years, so maybe it doesn’t need saying any more?

It isn’t personal WHS, it’s just you are driving some of us up the wall. People have been making reference to it for the last couple of seasons, but you have taken no notice. As a result people have become more frustrated with it, and have stopped being so subtle with their objections. This then results in people defending you, which only seems to encourage you further. This has a knock on effect of further annoying those that would rather you kept your posts concise. And this continues on and on.

So the answer might be to cut down on the stuff that people really aren’t interested in, and just comment on things like Witton Albion. Like Stu says, you could set up a blog for the other stuff - it may even prove popular.

Anyway, i’m off to the theatre and will pop a tenner through the office door next time i am going past the Club.

It’s going to be dull on here without WHS !

His recipes are delicious and his places to visit and things to do are very inspiring !

The pathetic criticism of WHS is ridiculous, and for that reason…i’m out, goodbye.

I have to admit to finding this line amusing!!!

So, the truth is I don’t need to get a running commentary on trips to Paris, umpiring at Cricket, the mid-Cheshire bowling scene and lots of other things but then WHS has every right to make the same comments regarding my posts.

I do however object to any alienation of fans (alright with exception to young Danny of Manchester who was a *****)!

If you go to White Hart Line, Anfield or Old Trafford or read the forums of any of these respective clubs then you don’t get to pick and choose who can say what and when. Nor are any of these as reliant on their fans as we are!

Whether WHS chooses to attend games or go for a family weekend away or on a night out doing something else, this is his choice. The guy is a wittoner and has been for more than 40 years, he also will put his hand in his pocket for a tenner here and a tenner there (none of which he is obligated to do). I also praise his generosity in pledging to getting a shirt for Nige. There are of course plenty of other people that donate their time and cash (sometimes more, sometimes less than WHS) but that’s not the point. Whether £1 or £1,000, every little bit helps! I would rather he posted every time he had put a couple of quid in than not do it at all! I happened to be at Fylde last night and the first thing he did on his arrival was to give Neil some cash!

So, not only was he bothered enough to go to the game but he handed over more money on top! There were plenty of ‘wittoners’ that didn’t make the trip to support the team, maybe they had something else on or maybe they could not be bothered. Everyone has a choice!

I would urge you to carry on posting WHS, people can choose what they want to read and what they don’t. This is your forum and your football club as much as any other supporter, we have not started a fan selection process as far as I am aware! We need more wittoners and not less!

Keep on posting WHS, this is a democratic forum and no one should be hounded off.
However why not use the personal messaging facility for some of your specific messages?
Also, though, any message posted does become fair game and subject to comment by others.

I found that line funny also , and you know , over the years Ive seen some funny supporters at Witton some would shout the same chant in a strange accent , one would actually spit in front of you as he spoke! One guy would just shout “too im!” too im" all match.
But they were all Wittoners.WHS posts remind me of Ronnie Corbett when he used to sit on that giant chair and try to tell a story and would digress onto a completely different subject and it would be ages before he got to the punch line. So cmon chaps dont alien anyone who has the good of the club at heart. we all have our ways of wanting to get involved and I suppose to let the know that we support it. Carry on WHS and lets hear about your next trip to Paris its legendary

I also didn’t realise we had the forum police active on this site. I believe anyone can write what they want when they want, so what if it strays of the topic, who cares. Witton needs its supporters, WHS gives alot to our club, as do other people who are not on the forum. I for one can’t agree with the picking on one individual for ridicule and maybe driving them away from suporting the club he has suported for many years. What are you suggesting? only write on the forum if you are writing something that I agree with other wise don’t bother. Sounds much like the V**cs forum. This has disgusted me :frowning:

‘And now its time for a heated debate’ - surprisingly off the point again.

At what point did I state that WHS shouldn’t post? My point was that of relevance, when you see that the same person has to have last word on every subject its ridiculous, as is starting a topic about a Premier Lge club and then ending it by saying your not interested in the team or the league!

Just merely suggesting relevance! I would never suggest that WHS or anyone else be censored or shouldn’t post, just think that a certain tact should be applied - specifically before talking about personal donations, when other people are putting money in ‘silently’ and just as importantly other people are frustrated at being unable to do so at this present time.

good luck with your new forum,Stu

I don’t want to lose WHS from this site but I do wish he would exercise some self-discipline and restraint and realise he doesn’t have to contribute to every thread that’s going. If he has an opinion he posts it - that’s fine. The trouble is if he Doesn’t have an opinion he posts that as well!

For example I tried to start a thread about results in our league so far which I thought might stimulate some discussion and be of interest and WHS immediately killed it stone dead by posting some irrelevant rubbish about Chelsea and Blackpool (two teams who I wasn’t aware were in our league).

I don’t mind the personal stuff about bowls, shopping etc; it has a certain charm but the site would be unreadable if everyone did it.

The need to place all his donations on public record is a tricky one. On one hand, if it makes other people think about chipping something in then it’s done some good for the club. On the other hand it must stick in the craw of some of those who help the club without any song and dance being made about it.

I hope he can accept this in the spirit it was intended. It’s like the boy who cried wolf WHS. When you talk a lot of rubbish, people stop listening and won’t take notice when you say something sensible - which you do occasionally!
