Poor display we didn’t look interested at all today. We started well but as soon as they scored our heads dropped and bar one great chance that Tommo had, we did nothing. Couldn’t pick out one decent player on the field today though full backs Dunne and Warner were OK. Tommo tried but didnt get any service. Lawless was quiet. Moseley had a poor game.I didn’t notice the centre midfield get involved at all today. Pritch and Booth were solid in the first half but then neither had a good second half, a mix up with Pritch and Jamie Speare led to the 2nd goal.
The worst thing is they were a poor side and didn’t show much either we just made it easy for them. Jamie Speare made a couple of decent saves to stop any more goals in the second half.
Should have defo had a pen in 1st half after Lawless’ cross was blatantly blocked by a hand and the ref was in a perfect position to see it, that may have changed the game. But we know the refs are poor in this league so no point wasting time moaning about the refs we need to focus on our football and make sure we do enough to survive.

3 points Tuesday and we are back on track!

We could and should have capitalised on our early pressure, we had half a dozen corners and several free kicks inside the opening 30 minutes and Witton were on top when Frickley scored.

Had we have been awarded the penalty (probably the clearest you will ever see in a game), then this might have changed things. Having not scored with the wind behind us it was always going to be a difficult second half.

I didn’t think that James looked 100%, Mike struggled to get in the game and overall we lacked creativity. Frickley are probably one of the worst footballing sides I have seen this season and therefore coming away with nothing from the game was disappointing. In fairness they put us under pressure for the first 20 minutes or so after the restart but they lacked any quality whatsoever.

Ref was a joke (for both sides). The bookings he made were ridiculous and the fouls he didn’t book far worse than those he did. Not awarding the penalty, the yellow card for Pritch and not booking their player for the foul on Thomo were all examples of his incompetence. I would actually say that overall the refs have not been bad this season but this guy was dreadful.

Frickley is never an easy fixture (it’s almost worth getting bl**** relegated not to have visit the place)! We need to get some character back on Tuesday and realise that there is still a big job to be done.

Spot on Rabbit ! The conditions suited Frickley’s style of play more than ours.

But i’m afraid we are back in the Sh1t unless we can bounce back on Tues.

Agree about the ref. I scored him very low indeed.

I didn’t realise you were at the match. Have you sent a report in to the press?

I sent the following:

The game was dominated throughout by a very strong blustery wind, which made playing good football very difficult.

Although Witton had corner after corner, kicking with the wind in the first half, they failed to take advantage of the conditions. Witton were hampered by the loss of Neil Black after 23 mins to a hamstring injury.

The game sparked into life shortly afterwards, when the Witton players stopped playing whilst they surrounded the referee for a hand ball penalty decision. Witton were nearly punished, as the referee waved play on and Frickley’s Peter Knox only had the keeper to beat, but his shot was forced wide by the wind, at the other end.

On 36 mins, Frickley went ahead against the run of play when (Frickley’s answer to Stoke’s Delap) Steve Robinson launched a powerful throw-in low into the box. Everybody missed it, and it fell to Lee Morris on the back post to tap it in.

Lee Thompson had a couple of chances late on in the half, when he wriggled past defenders, only for Adam Nicklin in the Frickley goal to deny him.

Totally different game in the 2nd half, as Frickley made full use of the conditions to peg Witton back. Jamie Speare made 2 point blank amazing saves to keep Witton Albion in the game,

However, on 69 mins, Brian Pritchard failed to get good contact on a back header, as the wind took it away from him. Peter Knox charged through, and although Speare dived out and got 2 hands to the ball, Knox kicked it out of his hands into the net.

Steve Pendrick came on for Ollie James, as Ollie was tiring from his recent injury.

New signing Brad Maylett came on for Kieran Lugsden for the last 24 mins, and showed some nice touches.

Overall, Frickley played the conditions far better than WItton, and Witton tired to easily in the 2nd half.

I burrowed in without being noticed Thatched, not difficult given the mines that run under Frickley Common!

Can’t argue with anything you have posted above, I had not sent anything over so this will do nicely.

See you Tuesday, I’ll start digging now!

i must say typical day in doncaster…poor place, poor pitch, poor conditions, poor game,we simply didnt pressure them in the 2nd half, and the 2nd goal was just a bad mistake, there wasnt that many away fans today unfortunatly which could of made a quiet atmosphere an exiciting one, never mind though, better look next time

Just seen the highlights on FATV and the decision by the referee not to give a penalty for handball looked even worse on TV. The Frickley player deliberately drops his hand to intercept the ball. Frickleys second goal was i think affected by the wind, Pritch seemed to be deceived by the flight and I think Jamie could have been a little braver as he came out.
Mike Moseley’s chance near the end was the best bit of football in the whole game and they never showed the foul on Thommo when he would have been through on goal for which the ref never produced a card.

It was a clear penalty, his hand was out at the side of his body and it stopped the ball from it’s path into the box and towards goal. I think even the player would have found it difficult not to admit it. Only the clown from Sheffield missed it! Ironically he then went on to book Pritch for handball from a closer distance, so where is the consistency in that?

The ref was poor for both sides, he gave us a couple of (meaningless) free-kicks but by that stage it didn’t matter, he missed the big decision at an important time in the game.

Overall a very disappointing day.

Not withstanding the poor display in the 2nd half, and the bad result, the worst thing is the loss of Neil Black.

His displays and goals have been the major factor in our rivival since Gary took over.

I am not sure how bad the hamstring is, and they do take time to heal. Hopefully he wont miss too many games.

Time for Mike and Lee to step up, and make sure we dont miss him too much!
