Good afternoon and welcome to the Directors, players, staff and supporters of Matlock Town. We hope you enjoy your brief stay with us. Please note that Queenies and the Social Club are available at half time should you require refreshments or a warming up!
Those of you who were at the South Shields game will no doubt have been impressed with them. Man for man they looked the best team we have played this season. Many of them have Football league experience.
After showing them a little too much respect in the first half we were lucky to go in at the break 1-0 down.
Carl and Gary sorted things however and with a tactical change we gave a good account of ourselves in the second half. Tom Owens had a great chance late on but it wasn’t to be. The best team won.
3 points from 12 against the top 4 teams isn’t disastrous however and all of those games have been decided by the odd goal.
Today’s game gives us a chance to to cement our position in mid table in this tough division. With only 2 home league wins this season we know we must improve in that area.
It is not like us as Wincham Park has a reputation for being a tough place to come. No small part of that is due to the fans who get right behind us in every game.
As I write these notes our NPL Academy side have beaten top of the league Radcliffe FC 3-0 at Wincham Park. After 8 games they had a perfect record. Well done lads!
Enjoy the game.
