This February half term we bring our first ‘FROZEN’ show to Witton Albion.
If you know any little ones who love frozen then this will be for them.
An hour long performance in our winter wonderland by Elsa and Anna followed by meet and greet with the characters.
This is going to be a very special show.
The first show in 22nd feb sold out in 4 days and the second show, a mtinee, has sold 2/3rds of the tickets. If that sells out in the next 24 hours we will release another day in the week.
Tickets are available from wittonclub.ticketsource.co.ukwittonclub.ticketsource.co.uk
or by calling 07515265300. Tickets for this will not be available from the club as it is set out with numbered seating so has to go through the ticketing system.
Tickets are priced at £10 each and a family of 4 is £35.
Its on many Facebook pages and by typing any of the following into the search box will find it.
The Witton Club
Noel Gallagher
Not Official Witton Albion
Witton Albion FC
Witton Albion Social Club
Also any of the Northwich events pages will have it so you can share it from any of these
Just because you put it on facebook doesn’t mean all will see it.
In an effort to tidy up people’s timelines, presumably from photos of kittens and peoples tea, facebook uses quite advanced algorithms to filter the content that people see.
So for example, if you think you’ve not seen a status from a friend in a while, it could be because facebook’s software deems your interactions and relationship not close enough to justify it appearing on your timeline.
As people rack up hundreds of friends the process becomes quite severe and a cursory glance at someone’s profile will reveal some of the content that facebook as been hiding.
Content is rated by how useful and interesting facebook thinks it is. links to websites tend to show that someone is trying to sell something so these get marked down straight away. Photos get a good ranking but if they contain more than 20% text will not be allowed to be used on facebook ads and get filtered on peoples timelines, again as it’s likely to be spam or a poster which is an ad. Video’s have a high ranking but the content is too time consuming to produce a video for every post and people aren’t going to watch them after a while. Which brings us neatly onto the other side of facebook’s filtering process. Like a self perpetuating prophecy, a post that gets a like straight away goes up the hierarchy. If it’s shared, exponentially so. This creates a snowball effect and can be the start of something going ‘Viral’…
However, there is a ceiling. Before I mentioned facebook ads. Facebook’s platform serves adverts to its users at nearly every interaction be it sponsored stories or box ads at the side of the screen. This is very lucrative for them. For page owners like myself and Witton they are an unfortunate but necessary part of social media.
As a result, a non boosted post will typically be served to upto 10% of the people who ‘Like’ or are fans of a page. People’s interactions with that post will then determine how it is served to the remainder of the ‘fans’.
At this point is must be bourne in mind that a post will never show up on the timeline of someone who doesn’t like a page unless it is boosted. If someone shares a post this tells facebook that it is of interest so will serve to more people.
Now, at this point, facebook will usually send the page owner a notification to advise them that that post is performing 80% better than others, would you like to boost it. This then creates revenue for facebook.
A boosted post changes some of these rules and must be first passed by a member of facebooks staff.
One feature of boosting is that you can target your post to a certain group of people. So, for the Comedy club, we target people who like comedy, and live in northwich + 10miles. Aged 25+ This gives us a ‘foot in the door’ as it were.
The reason you won’t have seen any frozen and 1d tribute posts on fb is because we are targeting women aged 17-60 with children under 14. If you think this demographic should include you WHS then please advise Facebook’s customer support - and your doctor.
A quick scan of the Witton Albion Page has revealed that it was posted by Jamie 8 hours before your forum post. The reason for it not appearing in your timeline will most likely be that the post probably wasn’t boosted and because of lack of interaction it wasn’t served to you.
We’ve come to the conclusion that the social media aspect is invaluable but only part of our entire marketing strategy. We time poster and flyer releases with carefully chosen posts, images and certain calls to action.
However, I’ve been doing it wrong. I just need to…
'Put it on Facebook for all to see.
WHS. ’
By the way. The 2nd show has just 20 tickets left. We’ve sold nearly 300 tickets in 10 days solely through facebook.
Why so offensive? I merely asked a question so that I could help advertise the event!!! I will now put it on my timeline. If I had been informed in advance about the show I would have put a comment in my article in the Our Town magazine. Believe it or not I like to help out the club when I can and I always praise people like you who put in so much time for the club.

Offensive? Not really. People don’t understand the complexity of facebook.
An ill thought out and slightly patronising comment such as ‘Put it on Facebook for all to see.’
on a forum that is public (without edit) and after 72 hours or so appears on google’s search results really frankly riles me.
It takes every bit of work done by everyone from the top to the bottom and makes a laughing stock of it. It insinuates to people that we would go to all this work to produce artwork and then not even bother to put it onto facebook.
Your first post negates any possibility of praise of the people who put in the time by patronising them.
Discussion over.
Post it where you like. Post it first class if you want.
You say people do not understand the complexities of Facebook, well count me amongst that list. I am 68 years old and have been a Wittoners all.my life. All you had to say was “We have Alan” My intention was to.help not insult, if you cannot accept that we’ll I suppose that is just too bad. By the way I have shared the posts and one of my friends has just booked two tickets.Regardless of what you think I do have great respect for all those who overcome and effort to the club, you included.
