" att 82 we gotta get out of this league "

Your dead right CL - On a pitch with a slope more suitable for the Winter Olympics probably 1pt was just about all we desrved from this game. Missed chances in the first half has again cost us and Kidsgove have now moved above us in the league. There will be a few more twists and turns before the end of the season but right now our play-off chances are not looking good. Back to the game - Great strike by Ross Lloyd for the goal but I’m afraid he found the back of the net more times than he found a Witton player with a pass. Glapwell did not look as good as they did at Witton but again took their first chance of the game to take the lead. The first half injury to Lamby took the momentum away from us and the second half was scrappy, too many stoppages with Glapwell players going down injured ? The introduction of Mike Moseley was delayed too long, had he been brought on 10 mins after half-time for the struggling Lamby we may have got all 3pts. So much possession second half that they sent mountain rescue dogs out to check on Jack Baker at the top of the slope. Good performances by Ruffer and Broadhead but again Foster looks isolated playing wide left.

Pressure on now - we can’t afford any slip-ups at home and have to pick up some points at Mickleover,Belper and Rushall.

Attendance 82 - and half of that was wittoners - but when you see how glapwell play its not suprising. A snide comment by some draw ticket seller about witton fans was also bang out of order! Given the way they play and the attitude of their people about 40 speccies is all they deserve. I hope the chappy who is bankrolling this cesspit feels its worth it !

As for the game - very physical. They were determined not to let us play a passing game and they succeeded, aided and abetted by dreadful refereeing and linesmen. We had the better chances (I think they only had 3 shots all night), the best of which fell to lamb when he hit the post with a header in the first half with the score 1-1. My MOM was Peter Heler, he covered miles last night and run himself into the ground. Lloyd’s goal could be goal of the season - great strike !

As for promotion - not over yet but we need to take some more of those chances.

We put in a much improved performance compared with the home defeat against Crapwell but our possession and impressive approach play still didn’t result in enough good scoring opportunities.
We should switch to 4 4 2 even if someone has to drop to the bench:
Ronnie Morgan and Steve Foster are not being fully utilised but also there was a lack of dangerous balls into the box.
I have no problem with the effort being put in and there’s a lot of ability in our squad but we’ve got to become more dangerous in front of goal.
The slope was extraordinary but didn’t really make much difference.
The poor ref did however. He seemed unable to deal with the continual late challenges by Crapwell and he wasn’t helped by inept liners.
In the second half both centre backs were involved in off the ball assaults on Carl Lamb.
The bookings of Lamb and Warner were trivial compared with what was ignored.
We’re still in with a good chance of the playoffs but there’s a lot of work to be done.
