Glyn Pardoe

Sad to read the news that former Manchester City full back & local footballer, Glyn Pardoe, has passed away, aged just 73.

Sad to hear this. Glyn worked as a security man at my workplace back in the 90s. Very nice man as well as a great player.

Saw him play a good few times good player, taken too young RIP Glyn

Our Club President Eric Finnigan’s son currently lives in Glyn’s old house with Glyn’s cousin Alan Oakes living directly opposite.

When Glyn was injured playing against Manchester United in 1970 I was 9 years old, I was having a plaster cast removed from my leg in the plaster room at Manchester Royal Infirmary. The plaster room was next to the operating theatres and one of the staff told me that Glyn was in theatre having an operation at that time. The same surgeon who operated on me also did Glyn’s operation.

A very nice man. I used to visit the Barclays Bank Computer Centre in Wythenshawe on a regular basis in the 1990’s, and he was always very accomodating as he checked my security before letting me in.
