Here’s another memory jerker, football grounds where youve seen the Albion that aint no more, heres my selection - Bradford Park Avenue, Sealand Road home of Chester Reserves, New Brighton, Ellesmere Port Town, Great Harwood, Oswestry Town, The Arabs, Burton Albion, Grantham, Nantwich, St Helens, Skelmersdale Utd, Bishop Auckland, Worksop, Wigan,
Horwich RMI, Runcorn, Sandbach Ramblers and of course our beloved Central Ground.
Over to you Chad
South Liverpool springs to mind straight away will need to think about more, Oh yes The Victoria Stadium… or am I jumping the gun slightly ;)[br]Posted on: October 24, 2007, 07:02:44 PM
Just thought, what about Wembley!
That’s a pretty exhaustive list Baggie and well done Picko for spotting his "deliberate mistake"
I can come up with four others that I’ve seen Witton play that are no more : Hednesford, Ilkeston Town, Stoke City and Curzon Ashton. In addition I don’t think Sankeys(Wellington) will be utilised these days. Also not sure about Armitage and Eastwood(Hanley).
Another where Witton have played in my time of watching are Scarborough where I didn’t get to. Also would question whether the likes of Guinness Exports/Ormskirk, Knowsley, Linotype, Van Leer and Wigan Rovers ground still stage matches.
Does the old Bucks Head at Telford count?
Gretnas original ground before they had to share?
88 there the last time we went on a Thursday night! How times have changed for them.
Clutching at straws there folks with Wembley, Telford & Gretna. Next you’ll be coming up with the grass pitch at Woodley Sports!
What bout Bangor City, Rhyl, Colwyn Bay or even Farnborough, Bishop Auckland and even that park in Shildon. Dont wana remember them let downs from Spennymoor.
Emley before they merged and became Wakefield and Emley. I seem to recall it was a three sided ground with another cricket/football pitch adjorning one of the touchlines.
We seem to be wandering away from the actual subject here folks. All the Welsh grounds are still there as are Shildon, Spennymoor and Emley.
Getting nearer home, what about the ground of our biggest rivals…Drill Field ( apologises for swearing )
