As most of you are aware, Sharon has resigned from her position at the club. The final handover was today. She would like to thank the people that have supported her during the last two and a half years.
After nearly 50 years I have also severed all ties with the football club, it is extremely unlikely that I will return in any circumstances.
Sharon and I send our regards to the good people at the club.
Until finding out yesterday that i had been removed from your Facebook pages i had no idea about you both leaving and i would like to thank you both for your brilliant work over the last few years.
Cheers Andy & Sharon for a great job and you both will be missed
Andy I would like to join this massive rush to say how sorry I am that you are leaving us, will really miss your company on the away days. Can fully understand you will have very good reason to do this.
I can’t believe this? I have known of Andy Lomas for as long as I can remember being a Witton fan, if not only for his ‘C’mon the Albion’ shout which for the record is unbelievably loud! I know we never spoke or knew each other, but this is a shocking and sad moment for me as a Witton fan, people like Andy should never cut ties with the club, I don’t know the facts but I hope this is entirely your choice and not been made from other people’s actions?
Well for someone like Mr Lomas, with all those years of support, to say what he has there something very very “unfortunate” MUST have gone on. I feel we deserve an explanation officially from someone at the club as this is shocking news!
Yet another life long Witton Albion fan that has spent many unpaid hours working for the club that can no longer work with the Chairman, but he does talk the good talk.
Gutted to see Andy being pushed to a point where he feels he has to walk away from the Club. It should never come to this for any supporter of volunteer.
The roll call of good people who have walked away (or been pushed) over the last 2 years gets longer by the day.
No doubt lip service will soon be paid to how important it is that the club attracts more volunteers, how 20 more volunteers is more important to a non-league club than additional financial investment…meanwhile volunteers are getting driven away one after another.
Anyway, this isn’t the right thread to go into all of that as this should be about thanking Andy and Sharon for their good service.
Andy is a great Wittoner and i look forward to seeing him return when he is ready.
So sorry to hear this, I hope like several others, me included they change their mind about leaving the club and return to the terraces as soon as possible. In any organisation things get said that should not be said and arguments are bound to happen but if the love of the club by all parties is still present a sensible outcome can usually be found, I hope that is what happens in this case.
WHS.
I thought I would post a quick note to clarify my position. Understandably as a number of people have departed Witton Albion, speculation as to why they have left will take place. In my brief time with Witton, it became clear how passionate the supporters are which is critical and understandable given the Clubs history & pedigree in Non-League football.
My world has changed dramatically in a short space of time. Within the last 6 months the size of my business (MBS Site Supplies) has trebled with a 2nd branch opening in Warrington to add to our Liverpool operation and a 3rd planned by Q1 2016. My Wife and I have welcomed a Son Josh (brother to our Daughter Harriet) and I’ve also been appointed onto the Board Of Directors at Livewire in Warrington (a not for profit organisation which runs Recreation Centres, Libraries and Community Interest initiatives). Over a bottle of red wine & chats with family + trusted friends following the end of last season, decisions had to be made around my time & fundamental priorities. As great a Club as Witton Albion is, I opted to step back from the Club to ensure that my Family and the company which funds our living were in the best shape possible. I love being a Dad and Husband, wanting to play the most active role possible in my families happiness. These crucial years are only here once, watching our kids learn how to walk & talk
Being part of a non-league football Club (particularly one with such high standards & aspirations) is tough … Very tough. It is not something you can do half heartedly, I certainly can’t do anything half-heartedly. With all of the above in mind, I hope people reading this can appreciate the reasons behind the decision I have taken. The door has been left open for me by Mark Harris & the board of Directors to return. While in the short term this is highly unlikely, over the longer term it’s lovely to have the option.
I will be watching from a far and will hopefully get to a couple of games next season, a season which I think shows great promise with a very ambitious Manager in Scott Dundas who is highly regarded in non-league football circles. Let’s hope the Club gets back where it belongs! I wish the Club and it’s supporters the very best of luck. #UTA
