Many Wittoners off to this match? It’s the closest ground in the league to me so I’ll be making the 150 mile trip up north to catch the game.
Hoping we get to take 3 points home with us!

This will be Grantham’s first game since the death of the anti-christ so there could be some national coverage. Probably best to respect it if they insist on the minutes’s silence as it could rebound on the club otherwse. My diplomatic solution would be to remain in the bar until kick-off!
And wasn’t “that woman” from Grantham?
I accept that a percentage of the home and away fans may well have respect for her, and we have to respect that. But equally, those of us who lived through that era and are still living through what is partly her legacy also have the right not to stand for a minute’s silence, if we choose. That’s called a ‘free society’. They reckon that 100 or so Labour MPs didn’t attend the commons Tory ‘love-in’, so they made their choice, and everyone at the match should make theirs.
How about a minute’s silence and then Ding Dong the Witch is Dead over the tannoy to cater to everyone?
Despite not being born until 1992, I’ve learnt enough to know that she destroyed the lives of many throughout northern England.
Also, her role in covering up the deaths of 96 innocent people at Hillsborough then passing the blame onto the supporters is nothing short of disgusting.
I won’t be respecting her, never will.
Must agree with the comments, she started the whole ‘everybody for themselves’ culture and shit on the working class man with me being from that background I would not be in the slightest bit disappointed or disgusted if the minutes silence was not respected. The 96 well that just shows what a despicable digusting human being she was.
As for the game I would take a 1-0 90 minute winner, just need 3 points no matter how we get them. UTA!
I reckon the game will be a tough test for us, although they’re down there struggling they put one over on us earlier on in the season.
The Antigua & Barbuda flag will also be making its debut, in honour our new defensive rock.
It’s a brave person who brings politics into football. Even the FA are saying for clubs not to try and have a minutes silence.
For me if any club insisted on paying their respects to her, it should be applause, that way individuals can opt out without a fuss getting caused.
At the end of the day individuals have a right to their own opinion and we should all respect that whichever way that opinion falls. However to try and force individuals into doing something they don’t believe in is unjust and morally wrong. If a minutes silence was to occur then anyone who did not wish to take part would have no option but to make noise, disrespecting those who wish to take part. It’s a no win situation for either side so simple answer, don’t do it
Was Maggie Thatcher a footballer?
Why do we expect football fans to observe a minutes silence everytime joe bloggs pops his cloggs?!
If its for a lifelong supporter or former player then yes but Mrs T hated football and all football fans!
I think if Grantham want to hold one a nice zigga zagga is in order
I don’t expect many clubs will attempt a minute’s silence tomorrow. I only thought Grantham might feel obliged to as she was born there and I think might even have been honorary club president at one time. There’s probably many there who share our opinions
on her but they might feel it’s expected of them. Perhap a minute’s er…“applause” might be the answer.
