as far as i know this is true

game is still on 5.15 and on setanta, players are not getting paid but are playing anyway for the fans

i am going to the game with witton being away (call me a part time supporter i know ;)) because think it will be an interesting experience and something i would not want to miss, any more witton fans going?

nope wunt pay see them lol.
crewealexfann99 just think where your money gone dont do it m8 lol

I’m deffinately not going to be going to watch them play, giving them one penny of my money is too much by my standards, i will be staying away from there. Why should i/we go to watch them this time when we wouldnt before? Because there has been a change of circumstances doesnt make a good enough reason for me to go and watch vics lose their last match. I feel it will be too much of a waste of money.

well sed witton_maniac fully agree.
we wunt c them lot lift a finger to pull us out of problems. the quicker they are gone the better cum on the albion

The postings on this thread should be moved to the appropriate section as we are repeating items that are already covered under Other Teams

It seems to me that a lot of people would be happy to see Vics go, that said would all Utd fans be happy to see City go or all Liverpool fans be happy to see the blues go, I think you’d all agree that every team needs its rivals, especially ‘derby’ rivals, theres nothing better than beating them or having a better cup run, but once they’re gone a lot of the local interest in footy goes too.
I know it seems wonderful to see them in such a mess but without them an awful lot of the competition goes with them, in this day and age no non league clubs are safe while the premier league sucks the blood from us all, I truly hope they survive (my old man would shoot me !!) we just don’t know when our turn will come, crowds of 350 aren’t that encouraging afterall.
Come on Witton we’re bigger than that, we should wish them well (very hard to say) because our local football scene is worse off without them, only just but hey !!!

Couldn’t disagree with Fox more. I do feel a slight twang of pity for the genuine Vics fans over what has happened but having desired nothing more than the total demise of ‘that lot’ since I was about 4 years old, I have been smiling for the last 48 hours. Every since I was a kid, they were always in financial trouble, I can’t believe they have survived till now and if they never play another football game it will be too soon for me. Fox suggests that there is rivalry between our clubs and it would be a shame if it disappeard but lets be honest, we have only played in the same league briefly in the last 30 years and the occasional Cheshire Cup meeting hardly gets the blood racing does it? They are rivals only in that they are local - it’s not as if we play them twice a season like Liverpool and Everton. Anyway, it looks like its all academic now because they are likely to be saved by these 4 idiots who think they make a football club out of a bag of t*rd. Lets just hope we are playing at the same level as them next year.

I think the overall feelings of the majority of Witton fans fall somewhere between the 2 views above. I am quite happy to see Vics get beat every week. Relegation would be brilliant. And to be honest, knowing the satisfaction they got when we nearly folded, and also seeing their ungrateful attitude towards us letting them play at WP for so long, then i’m not going to lose any sleep at their current plight. However, i also hate to see someone like Connett get away with running a football club into the ground. He’s a crook and what he’s done is disgusting. Obviously, it couldn’t happen to a nicer club!! But it doesn’t mean what he has done is right.

Personally i would of got alot more satisfaction from seeing them go the whole season without a win!!

It’s a difficult one really to be honest. Since primary school I have had Witton vs Vics banter, and its just a shame that we haven’t been in the same league for a more than the odd season. I do however feel a bit robbed by the fact that they could drop a few divisions. This is the closest we’ve been to them for a while, we’re top of our league and they’re rock bottom of the conference. If things stay this way and they stay in business, we could be looking forward to a boxing day derby in 14 months time. If they drop down to North West Counties 1, league derby matches could again be several years away. We’ve got a great side and are on the up, they have a poor side (from what I’ve heard) and are on the slide, what could be better than a league double over them next season?!

F**k EM !

Very eloquently put pencil!

However, I agree 100% with Robbo sentiments.

What has been said about Connett is absolutely true and as I said I feel (very slight) twangs of sympathy with the real Vics fans but only in the same way that I feel sorry for Man U, Man C, Chelsea, Villa etc fans, whose clubs have been turned into the playthings of the very rich. That people who have made a few quid in some two bit business think they can buy football clubs and pretend to be Abranovic to ‘show off’ is a sad reflection on the way the game has gone. I live in Birmingham but I feel much closer to Witton now because I think we ‘own’ our club to a much greater extent than all the fans of the clubs mentioned above. Lets hope that when our Abranovic comes along (again), we tell him to sod off.

Got to agree with pencil, well said mate. why are you all bothing to care about how close we are to vics and beating them ???. lets just keep improving like we are doing and in the very near future we will be the best in northwich ;D
forget Northwich and playing them. for the time being forget about there miss fortune. lets play are heart out on saturday and put 6 past Leek. Then we can all lagth at there miss fortune. down the northwich ;D

How i see it is, why should we care about vics and their financial status when if the tables were turned and we were the ones about to fold, they would bat an eyelid to give one ounce of sympathy towards us and our club. I can’t see there being a good enough reason for me to start caring about vics folding, i personally am delighted that they may fold; you can’t exactly say that we are losing ‘competition’ in the town, because we never even played vics anyway apart from when we met in cup matches, so there is no loss of competition at all if they would fold.
Instead of spreading sympathy towards vics we should all be focussing on the one and only Witton Albion, and us getting good results, after all that is what is most important to us at the moment.

To most who know me my views on this are pretty clear.

Having been involved back in 99/00 when we nearly went under the 2nd time I remember no sympathy, offers of help or concern from the other side. What I do remember are many comments about how we’d wasted money, had ourselves to blame and what an opportunity it was for them as the town could only support 1 team blah blah. Then came the ground share experience.

Should this takeover suceed - well its not going to affect our season is it and we must plough on with the progress which has currently been made at our club. If it doesn’t we may get an added boost from extra publicity etc.

As for rivalry - again I’ve heard many comments from them about us not being proper rivals as we’ve rarely played in the same league for years. I see their point - so if we end up being 3/4 leagues higher should I be upset about that? - especially as that means we have emerged as the top team in town which after all must be what we all want or we wouldn’t be that bothered would we! this scenario however could happen in conf north next season anyway - who knows.

Up the Albion.

Any takeover at Northwich would merely delay the inevitable. No point in having a club which does not have assets. In my opinion, they would be far better off reforming, playing at a level which allowed them to raise money, not just cover costs, and aiming to own their own ground at some point in the future, and I would offer my best wishes and sincere hopes that they would be able to do this.

However, again just my opinion, we should all be concentrating on getting behind Witton, vocally when at games and financially by supporting the fund raising efforts that are ongoing. We’re in a great position, with our team riding high at the top of the league by playing attractive football. Let’s look to build from a position of strength.

Mike T - spot on !

How many tickets am i putting you down for then Pete for Race Night?
