Grenville Millington

It is with the deepest sadness that we announce the sudden passing of former Witton Albion Goalkeeper Grenville Millington at the age of 73.

Grenville made 37 appearances for the Albion in the 1972/73 season keeping 11 clean sheets after joining the club from Rhyl.

He went on to play for Chester and was part of the team which knocked Leeds United out of the League Cup in 1974 at Sealand Road - A Leeds United team which included the likes of David Harvey in goal, Trevor Cherry, Billy Bremner, Terry Yorath, Joe Jordan and Peter Lorimer.

He also played for Oswestry Town and Wrexham.

He also served as a police officer.

Our thoughts are will Grenville’s family and friends at this sad time.

I seem to remember that he had also been a Welsh Amateur International.

Very sad news, very good keeper RIP Grenville. Condolences to his family and friends.

His brother Tony was also a goalkeeper who played for Swansea and was a Welsh International.
