Gresley FC vs Witton Albion.

Witton complete a very busy week with a trip to Derbyshire to take on Gresley FC in an Evo-Stik Division One South fixture. Seven points in that time has seen them draw level with leaders Shaw Lane, it might have been more but it has taken a monumental effort from the management staff and the players to even get close. Five games to go to the end of an excellent league season and still everything to play for as the campaign draws to a conclusion. Four defeats from 37 league games to this point, runners up guaranteed but who is to to say that the team can’t go one better. The players have performed with the belief that their ambitions can be achieved and who can disbelieve that when they have shown such character and determination so far and the desire to succeed. Gresley are currently in the lower reaches of the league but still pose a problem for Witton which can’t be underestimated and have been beaten eight times at home this season. The last one being at home to play - off chasing Lincoln United last weekend but prior to that they had taken ten points from the previous twelve. So it’s no easy game for Albion but they certainly will be giving it everything as they pursue the top prize. Kick off at The Moat Ground is 3pm.

Was planning to get to this game as it’s another new ground for me, but a three hour round trip to support a team whos best keeper is just another spectator doesn,t justify the time and effort involved.

Not the spirit 2T1B . I am sure the gaffer has a cunning plan so please get there and support your team. UTA

UTA
Was there last night to witness his cunning plan first hand vi8, was happy with most of it, but to have ten players busting a gut for ninety minutes only to have their hard work undone by one selection on the teamsheet didn’t seem right. IMO.

Totally agree. Was looking forward to going to the match tomorrow and to the Shaw Lane on Tuesday. But the way I feel at the moment my meds ney, time & effort could be put to better use.

We’ll probably have Brad & Rob on the bench tomorrow to keep Danny company!!

I cannot believe what im reading here, we have been on an amazing run to catch up to Shaw Lane and with 5 massive games to go some supporters are turning their backs on the team!?
Pathetic :red

My god I’ve just come across this after posting what I have just now on the other thread I JUST SIMPLY CANNOT BELIEVE WHAT YOU TWO HAVE POSTED are you real fans or just fairweather ones! GO ON ENCOURAGE THE LADS WHY DON’T YOU!!

Beyond belief or reason with these pathetic comments you should be thoroughly ashamed of yourselves.

I hope the managers and players DON’T read this website because it’s an absolute joke!
If you do then KEEP GOING LADS you’ve done us proud whatever the outcome. BEST season of football and TEAM SPIRIT I’ve ever seen after 30ish years watching the albs. A joy to watch. UTA

Pathetic :red
Appologies for appearing pathetic to you Matt but as this is a fans forum for us to air our views that is what has happened. Some of us have had our say, nothing more nothing less. You go to Gresley tomorrow and cheer the lads to a win.

How dare you question whether we are real fans just because we have expressed an opinion that it involves a lot of time effort and money to watch such important games where the best team is not being selected

Well I must say any negativity is unwarranted because what Carl and the rest of the guys have done this season is above and beyond what we expected. We have had a fantastic season and even though I was a little disappointed Danny wasn’t playing last night I have total trust in Carl’s decisions. We still have a handful of games to go and rather than stay away we should be going in droves to these games. I’m not going to Gresley tomorrow for personal reasons at home but I will be leaving work and driving up the M62 like a bat out of hell on Tuesday night and will be at the remaining games. This season has been very memorable and extremely enjoyable. Come on and lets get behind them.

I will be doing and so will a large number of Wittoners because thankfully we don’t give up on our team just because we don’t agree with one team selection

We are not party to the decisions the team manager and assistant come to. There may be a very valid reason for not including Danny Roberts in the team (apart from injury). Come on, this team have been superb all season, so it’s wrong to have a go at anybody right at the death. If the worst happens ie we finish second, then lose in the play-offs, we’ve had a season full of excitement, good football, and a team to be proud of. The management have been superb, and don’t you think the manager has more idea than any of us. Don’t know who reads these posts, but quite honestly, if any of the team and/or management see some of the remarks on here, they could be excused for thinking WTF, why are we bothering. GET BEHIND THE TEAM AND MANAGER, and let’s get the job done. We are good enough TOGETHER!!!

Even though I thought it was a really bad decision re the keeper last night I will be there tomorrow. I could never give Witton up even though it has crossed my mind on hundreds of occasions!!

Carl has been brilliant this season, but everyone makes mistakes he is human after all. Lets get behind them tomorrow we are not out it yet! UTA

I agree that people are allowed to air their opinions and I understand some of the frustrations but one bad decision should not stop you from getting behind the team and management at a crucial time when they need it the most and in all honesty they deserve it the most. If you are happy to stay away over that one thing then stay away full stop. That’s my opinion that I am free to air!

Now can we concentrate on things ahead starting with tomorrow’s game. Come on You Reds! Well, Blues for tomorrow.

A bit of an over reaction over a draw against third placed side after all . Support your team through thick and thin . Stay strong , having different opinions is one thing and even venting your opinions face to face in conversation is ok , But , never slag it off on a public forum . Big No No ! Big own goal Stay strong get more people down and get the club more Partizan . We need more people , if your with us your welcome , if your not , stay away , no more negativity please . Be positive

Chill guys, our fans have been brilliant this season the last thing we need is any falling out now. Somebody commented to me last night just how “together as one” our fans have been all this season. That has been a great thing imo.

Lets have a good day out tomorrow and bring the 3 points back to WP. Just my opinion but I would play Bradley Bauress in goal and Gards up front (joking)!!! UTA

I think the result was down to the fact that the stewards at OUR club are so poor and haven’t got a clue what they are doing.

This is where you post absolute bollards

I made a 400 mile round trip to see my 1st game of the season last nt. The reason. Big game and the lads were tired. Thought an extra voice of support could make a difference. Disappointing result but thoroughly enjoyed the game and being part of a promotion and title push. At 2 2 Hare made a bad clearance and half a dozen people were shouting for him to be replaced. I was shocked. I came up last nite to support and encourage. He needed that then. The crowd make a difference. Be that difference. As someone pointed out Hare made a vital save v Carlton. Players read this forum and if he is he has my support as he has Carl’s support. He’s a Wittoner.
