Groundstaff Give The OK For Glapwell Match

A call from Match Secretary Pete Riley at 10am to say that the Albion Groundstaff have had a good look at the Wincham Park pitch and are confident that this afternoon’s game against Glapwell will be going ahead despite the overnight dusting of snow and freezing temperature.

Thanks Chad, I don’t however share thier confidence entirely! It was minus three this morning and despite the sun it is now only just above zero and the snow does not seem to be melting at all yet! Is an inspecction planned or will it be left to the match referee when he (or she) arrives at the ground later?? many thanks!

Just to make this abundantly clear it is the Groundstaff and Club officials who decide whether a pitch inspection is required. In this case they have decided that one isn’t required.

Ultimately the appointed match referee has the final decision.

See you all down at THE PARK later

ps matches, as I write, at Chasetown, Grantham & Spalding are off today

The pitch is very much playable, as a few people have made sure that we play today
You will be surprised what can be done if the groundstaff say it is playable
See you there later
