guiseley v witton

Late goal…arrrggghhh. Final score 1-1

1 - 1 result according to Sky, shame to lose the lead but would have taken 4 points from Gateshead and Guiseley

fleetwood finished 0-0

Apparently Guiseley have just won the world cup, such is their jubilation. . . pah

Matlock 0 Fleetwood 0 result according to their forum.
Gateshead lost 3 - 2

I think we should BAN all talk of titles until we have our Red and white Maulers on the trophy

The game started on a gluepot of a pitch. Albion dominated the first half, but nothing to show for it. Alex Brown scored a cracker from outside the box, following up a partially cleared corner. The pich turned from gluepot to quagmire, and to be honest conditions were farcical for at least the last half hour. Guiseley scored a screamer in the 91st minute with, as far as I can recall, their only on target effort of the game.

Sum up - JK little in the way of shots to deal with, only through balls and crosses; Guiseley’s keeper by a distance their man of the match, but the conditions destroyed the game.

After Wednesday night this was a fantastic effort to get 3 points - only denied right at the death.

We really did deserve all 3 points - Tony Evans had a peach of a chance to take us to 2-0. But Hey Ho these things happen.

To man the team were fantastic so onwards and upwards.

Hey,
As great Shankley said," Football isn’t every thing,it is the only thing".
So,the title isn’t every thing,it is the only thing.
The codpack hasn’t gained ground on us so let’s kepp plugiing and bring thst title home.
We are not going to canter home and now is the time when mental strength comes into operation.
We stay focussed and the title is COMIN’ HOME.:cheer:

Terrible spelling mistakes.
My apologies!!!

Bloody good effort, so close but hey thats football
Christ don’t you hate it.

Gutted we lost that in the last minute! But at least fleetwood didnt gain any gorund on us so all is still the same as after the gateshead game apart from the fact fleetwood have one less games to make up the points in the bag we already have! Come on Witton!

Had enough chances in the first half to have won 3 games. Great strike from Alex Brown but Guiseley stole a point at the death, but that happens in football so we move on and it is one less game for the Cods to catch us up. Sht pitch again, sht referee again but once again FANtastic support.

MoM - Pritch just shaded it from Macca IMO.

Sour note - the supporters bus broke down in Guiseley and we did not leave until gone 7pm

I thought the ref was spot on decision wise in the first half, although he should have shown a couple of cards, however, in the second half . . . ! At times it seemed as if he was being remotely controlled by the Fleetwood camp.

Have added a few photos from today to the gallery. (Access via the ‘Fans’ menu).

Disappointing to draw in such circumstances however we did have the better of the chances and possession and on another day we’d have won it comfortably.

If you were fleetwood looking at our last 2 games you’d be fully expecting to gain a bit of ground somewhere - oops!

Bring on the Marine - lets have another awesome following there having fully recovered from last Wednesday sign off!

Thought it was a great performance from both team and fans alike to back up after Wednesday nights exploits! If it wasn’t for the Guiseley keeper and the very muddy goal line, we could have been out of sight at half time. Thought Macca’s first half performance was one of the best from any individual all season.

In the second half we pushed for the first goal and eventually got it from Alex Brown, what a strike! If we had taken one of our chances after Browny’s goal then their last minute wonder goal wouldn’t have mattered but what can you do?! Although Fleetwood will be happy that we’ve conceded in stoppage time, they must be kicking themselves that we’ve effectively dropped points and they have not capitalised.

Draw or a win on Good Friday and we can look forward to entertaining the cods on Easter Monday!

Thought we had done enough to win the game and as Eli said in the first half we could have scored two or three, Skiba is arguably the second best keeper in this division!!!

Brownie’s goal was a screamer and unlike the Guiseley equaliser he meant his! Most impressive was the quality of the team performance. The long trip to Gateshead and the focus required going there might have impacted yesterday’s display - it didn’t!

Macca was once again superb, he revels in games like yesterday, covered every inch of the mud bath! Thornley has contributed massively to the overall performances in the last few weeks, he never allows the opposition defence a minute to relax and is unlucky not to have picked up goals in recent weeks (not that it takes anything away from his contribution). Thought Peers had a good game yesterday, very difficult conditions to try and run with the ball.

MOM for me was Pritch, he hardly put a foot wrong and was organising those around him at the back. He defended brilliantly for the full 90 minutes. It was hard work given that their number 9 and 10 were both 6’12". It was also very tricky in timing tackles in the mud! Very easy to see this as another typical BP performance and to take it/him for granted, however I thought he stood out in terms of quality.

Perform like we did yesterday and take more of our chances and we are home and dry (something which took about 4 hours from Guiseley)!!!

MoM for me was Macca by a country mile. I thought TB just about shaded BP performance-wise.

4 points in a week from away games against teams who were favorites for the title - and who have both spent big to try and get to where we are now. Can’t argue with that.

Forget when they scored, that we’re 1 point closer to the title is all that matters.

Could not argue whether it was Macca or Pritch for Mom Robbo but Pritch never made a mistake yesterday and I think TB did. Anyway if the Rabbit agrees with me it must be Pritch.
