Hard pitch isn't helping us>

Living away I can’t get to all the games, but my impression of late is that the hard pitches are not helping Witton’s style of play. At Stamford where we played beautiful pass and move football, the grass was lush and the ball more easily under control.

Against Frickley on Saturday, Witton’s play wasn’t helped at all. The ball was bouncing out of control off the surface. It actually helped for the first goal of course.

In my view the pitch needs heavily watering before Saturday. Paraphrasing the words of Corporal Jones

Witton’s passing game - they don’t like it up 'em Telford.

I am interested in your views.

We watered the pitch heavily before the match last night - in fact at one stage the ball got stuck in the water on the far touchline. It was certainly better for the watering than it was when we played last Saturday. A few of us went on to the pitch after the game last night (don’t worry in a controlled manner) and the pitch felt a lot softer. Both boxes (more so the Lostock end) are struggling, there are bad holes appearing as you may have seen. Best suggestion is to hit shots hard and low as they could go anywhere!!!

I really think it needs resurfacing in the summer but not sure whether the costs of this are within our means?

Is there anything we can do to assist before saturday, I feel that with a flat surface we would give the lads much more opportunity to play the style of football we know they can and thus increase our chances of pulling off a victory.

Can we water the pitch agin before stauurday ? , if it was givena good soaking on say thursday, enough to let some surface water lie there, then left to soak in it could then at least be rolled flat. I f we ater again on saturday morning this should improve it no end.

If volunteers are required i am sure enough people on here would help out, myself included.

Any thougts ?

i would b happy to offer my assistance
