Hednesford Town v. Witton Albion

Easter is often a time of great significance in the football calendar as teams have a shorter period between games and these games usually have a bearing on the final outcome each season.

Witton go into the holiday period in sixth place in the table but face two games within three days against teams fighting for survival.

Saturday afternoon sees them travel down the M6 to Hednesford Town in a Northern Premier League West Division fixture.

The Pitmen find themselves in nineteenth place, five points from safety with six games to play.

They very nearly didn’t start the season after being relegated from the Southern League Central Division at the end of last season, and then the club was beset with boardroom issues, a last minute rescue package allowing them to take their place in the Northern Premier League West Division.

Managerial changes have also affected them during the season.

The return meeting earlier in the season at the U Lock It Stadium saw Witton secure a narrow 3-2 win courtesy of a brace from Joe Duckworth and a goal from Cameron Fogerty.

Witton will be looking to continue their quest for the play offs but Hednesford will be doing their best to upset the form books as they look to get themselves out of trouble.

Kick off at Keys Park is 3pm.

Still sixth in the table, 3 points off the play offs.

Odd game, we were far better than them even playing poorly (back 4 were good) but we offered little up front, midfield was Newell on his own!

It looked like a nailed on 0-0 until Roberts let a soft header slip through his hands, then desperately we threw Ben upfront too early and lost our shape and got hit on the break twice to lose 3-0.

At 0-0 they barely had a chance and you could see why they are at the bottom.
Would definitely like to see changes on Monday, definitely Brazel back in and probably Connor Hughes and Taylor Kennerley.

Certain players need dropping!

Totally agree C.J., we were well on top first half but didn’t take our chances. Why do we under-perform against poor teams.

Although we are still in sixth position I don’t think we will make play offs now.

We will just have to hope we batter 1874 for a bit of satisfaction.
