Interesting team…
Surprised to see Steve Smith in the starting 11, lets hope he proves us all wrong today

I am informed that we have not had one meaningful attack, the goal was conceeded when Drew was dispossesed in his own penalty area.
I was told that ME, but didn’t want to name names!
Do we know if we’ve had a shot yet?!

Disappointing but not really surprising, Hednesford will be in the shake up at the end of the season. Tuesday is now a BIG game, let’s get everyone we can there. Neil, I have given out about 25 free tickets at school, hope fully some of the kids will come along, possibly with their Dad’s in tow.

absolute shite again. How long do we have to suffer this crap. Garry burke is shockingly awful. I feel for Greg Smith, again awesome, he deserves better than the jokers playing in defence in front of him. Let down again by a lot of fans that didnt make the effort to go. Well done to those that did THEY deserve better!
Seems like a better performance based on the score-line, but comments on their forum like “we’re all over them” and “it should be six” sound pretty much like last week. Be interested to read a match report and whether there was any improvement.
Most worrying is that all teams below us, that played, picked up points today.
No mistake, we are in the relegation battle even this early in the season.
A better performance than Tuesday and to come away with something would have been an excellent result. We worked hard but 2 mistakes cost us the points. 0-0 at half time and the result could have been different. Greg Smith was outstanding again. The team gave it 100% today, there was more fight and more commitment than Tuesday, we were beaten by a better team. We need to pick our selves up and get behind the team on Tuesday.
Also thought the performance was better today. They are top of the league and we missed Rod, Ben Thornley and Scott Willis massively.
Again Greg Smith and Brian Pritchard were excellent!
Still think we should be playing wider, making more use of Thacker, he keeps being drawn in to the middle, but he did try hard overall.
Make no mistake Hednesford are good team and may be there at the end. This was no place to go with a team lacking in confidence.
That said, we played a lot better than last week, but needed to make the most of the few chances we did have.
After conceding a poor first goal we could have got something towards the end of the first half. We also started the second half brightly until someone hung out a foot to give away the penalty. We were then under the cosh for about 15 mins and Greg Smith was excellent. We then started topush on and really should have pulled a goal back when Schwarz (?) slashed missed with an open net gaping. I also thought Steve Smith played a lot better in that final third of the match playing a more central role.
I think we will turn the corner shortly, but its important that supporters don’t start deriding the team - its unnecessary and unhelpful. There is a long way to go
Finally, A message to Hednesford - you need to be top on the last day of the season - the league is not won in mid-October. I thought you may have learned that lesson a couple of years back!
I to thought we played better today than against a poorer team like Cammell Laird. We were more or less forced to play 4-5-1 today with the abscence of Willis & the 2 Thornleys but we held our own and created 2 good chances for Thompson and Thacker which when u are playing that system u have got to take. Conceded a terrible goal when Drew dwelled on the ball on the edge of the box and left the Hednesford man a easy finish.
Greg Smith had another tremendous game and kept us in the game until our centre back rashly gave away a silly penalty which Greg got a hand to but could not keep it out.Pritch looked as though he had never been out for a lengthy injury spell and Thompson again worked tirelessly for the whole game.In these three players we have a decent spine to the team on which to build a team. Ross Thacker played for the full 90 and is improving all the time, tracking back well today as well.Hednesford are a big, strong and well organised team which is obviously costing much more than ours so overall as I was not expecting to get any points today I am not as despondent as other supporters.
MoM - Greg Smith closely followed by Pritch and Thommo
