Witton’s Youth team are in cup action on Sunday afternoon when they travel to league leaders Heswall FC in the Third round of the North West Youth Alliance Open Cup. Witton are in the middle of an excellent run, having lost only once since October in all competitions and cup football has a habit of producing surprising results so anything is possible. Although the lads have performed well as a team, the form of captain Ronan Eves has been instrumental in the success and he has chipped in with some vital goals along the way. Heswall currently top the First Division table on goal difference from Tranmere Rovers, a side who Albion came very close to beating a few weeks ago in an entertaining league game but that gets put to one side today as Witton look to progress through to the next stage. Should the game be drawn after normal time, extra time will be played and then if the scores are still level the tie will be decided on penalties. Kick off at Gayton Park is 2.30pm.
