Got to say if we can keep the lads together and possibly make 1 or 2 quality, but suttle signings the premier division should not hold any fears for us. We have a good balance in the team and a mixed age group and they seem to bond together fantastically having mutual respect for all involved. We have proved this season that we can comfortably beat some of the teams from the league above, Stafford, Marine, and wasn’t it Buxton? We competed with Droyslden and Altrincham from the Blue Square North and to an extent had Barrow from the Conference on the rack for 80 mins. So how far can we go? We might not win the league but as a target I would say that the play offs are not beyond us and then who knows? What do you all think? SBL
I think I better make sure I have a full breakfast if we make the play offs again next year
I tend to agree with you SBL, maybe only 2 good signings to spice up competition so long as we dont lose anyone which i hope not now, Maybe one or 2 going spare at V**S so long as they have not been tainted too much - not Kierney the turncoat though ?
Promotion - aim to consolidate - push for promotion
I thought the fans were fantastic yesterday and provided real support = proper 12th man .Strong bond right the way through the fans ,directors and management team with the team and you are right ,the team seem to bond really well together .STill a young side but they have grown with experience this year .COnditions weren’t good yesterday and poorer performances have been when they can’t get the ball down ,pass and play .YEsterday they adapted really well and I can think back to games this season when the conditions have beaten us.Marvellous job well done all
I’m just happy we are going back to the prem where we belong
Anything above is a bonus and we should obviously aim as high as we can but only if financially viable.
Still absolutely buzzin!! Anyone else still got their Witton shirt on or just me!
I think realistically, we will most probably finish mid-table. Anything higher is a bonus in our first season back there, but there’s no harm in setting our sights on the play-offs.
Looking forward to some of the away days next season. Always enjoy going to the likes of Matlock, Hednesford and of course, there’ll be the Whitby weekender.
Not looking forward to Rushall on a Tuesday night though! :pinch:
Probably my job to be boring and downbeat (hi Robbo) but personally I feel consolidation is key especially in the first year back - whatever we think about witton there are some bigger clubs in the premier division who should have better resources than us. Likewise I would expect us to finish above certain other sides too. 12th place for me!!!
As for the shirt Ched I took mine off about 3am but was walking round in my scarf all day - in the house!
Me too
Neil without you the club would not be here!! You are as much a hero as them what played on Saturday probably more so along with many other unsung heroes at our fabulous club!!
Consolidation would be nice but if we can keep these lads together and make a couple of signings and of course hang on to our management team then I see no reason why we can’t get in the play offs next year. Marine one of the better sides in it struggled against us this season and so did Buxton who we comprehensively beat. As far as I’m concerned lets be as ambitious as our budget allows but I’ve every faith in this team to take us even more forward provided we can keep them all.Talking to a lot of them Saturday they all seem to want to stay. Particularly impressed with Titch who wants to get involved in community projects with us!! I’d not spoken with Matt Wood before until Saturday night but was impressed with how much he loves our club and hope he stays too as we all think he’s brilliant too!! I like all our players the best team since the early 1990’s. If I had to single amyone out for consistency though it would have to be Boothy who I voted for as my player of the season.
What the hell they are all brilliant and that includes everyone in the squad like Josh Glover, Schofield, Matt Woolley etc!!
Onward and Upward!!
Lets just enjoy the ride next season top 6, top half, bottom 3, lets just get down to Wincham Park and make the most of whatever next year has on offer!
Well all readers its about us all being evangelical (if thats the right word?)about our team. Spreading the word and getting new faces down to Wincham Park and making sure that our attendances are around 500+ for EACH AND EVERY home match. Its possible. Lets get those lost Witton supporters back to Wincham Park with our own brand of "Sexy football"and attract new supporters (families, young supporters and the old cocks). AS THE SAYING GOES “IF YOU BUILD IT PEOPLE WILL COME”. That was proven at our home tie against Farsley and especially away at Curzon and by jove we have built it! At present we have a golden opportunity to market the product called Witton Albion. Lets make it the word on everyone’s lips. SBL
Consolidation, consolidation, consolidation…COME ON THE ALBIOOOOOON!
My dad has been watching Witton for nearly 60 years, myself over 30, and the feeling of utter joy on sat evening was fantastic. Not only does this Witton side play wonderful exciting football, it’s probably the fittest most mobile side I can remember, the amount of work they do when they haven’t got the ball is phenomenal. If this side stays together I can’t see why we shouldn’t be pushing for a play off place next season , we certainly don’t have anything to fear and don’t forget we have matched two conference north sides this season on there own ground. Very good time to be a wittoner
if we can keep this fantastic team of players and management together there is no reason why we shouldn’t be pushing for promotion again next season.this is certainly the best witton team for a long time, they just keep running and working their socks off, not to mention the great football they play. long may this team play in the red and white of witton. here’s looking forward to next season and beyond. come on witton.
