Unfortunately I had already booked my Whit holiday before this event was announced.
Can somebody update this thread with the main topics discussed, and any decisions made? (Obviously keep off any info we want to keep internally to just us wittonners. I’ll catch up with that info when I get back)
I’ll drag myself away from the swimming pool and make my way to the internet cafe to keep up to date.
Just a quick reminder that the Information Meeting is at Witton on Thursday 29 May, commencing at 7.30pm. It is essential that everyone who can be there is there. Those who read this forum - please advise those who do not have access to this.
On a similar note - please do your best to attend and drag fellow wittoners with you. We are at a crucial time in the clubs history and need your support.
To potentially pre-emp any questions - Eli will be there at the pledge table, I will have season ticket forms to distribute (save the postage eh!) and Stephen is running a European Championship prediction competition. (Len may also have the 200 club forms)
We would welcome your support in one way or another even if its just a stab at the predictions - it all helps.
Yes I will have 200 club forms at the club on Thursday night
A bargain at £15 for the whole season
Please try and sell me some through friends or family as every little helps
Not to pre-empt content of the Info Meeting but I think the programme is certainly a topic. Please liaise,Steve, with whoever you feel is applicable before tomorrow night if you want to. With everything please be pro-active - the more that can be done by many, the better.
I couldnt make the meeting last night as i had to work, would it be posible for someone to post a general outline of what was discussed and future plans for the club, wothout giving away trade secrets.
I will try and give a brief rundown, I’m sure someone will be able to fill in the blanks for you all when we all get together again.
Mark Harris split the presentation into 3 groups, the good the bad and the ugly
some of the good, another succesful season (despite not going up) an excellent set of players, excellent supporters. A new manager. I deliberately leave out a couple of other things because I’m not sure if they are to be made public yet
some of the bad, having good players means other teams sniffing around and Nigel has his work cut out to persuade one or two not to take up much higher wage offers. The commercial side had once again been disappointing. Missing out on promotion again so not getting the extra sponsorship money from the Blue square north, hence a cut in wages is required to stop us slipping into old ways and getting into trouble ( another good point is the campaign for donations has meant that the cut is considerable less than it could have been) Also the fact that the league will be a very difficult one to win again this time because of the strength of teams coming in (although I do believe this will add to a very exciting league with some very good crowds)
The ugly , some of the infighting and comments made at the end of the season were not what is wanted at our family club.
I will repeat that I have deliberetly left some bits out which I think maybe the club will make official when the time is right, All was not doom and gloom in fact most left feeling positive about the future the pledges were incresed, some season tickets were sold and Lenny started his 200 club (which with everyones help should be the 500 club this year!)
Nigel also gave us an idea of his plans and answered as many questions as he could.
Oh and Mark told us all to keep smiling
Hope this helps a little and hopefully I haven’t said anything I shouldn’t
