Jeff Metcalf leaves the board

Some rumours flying around, so here’s the facts:

As most fans know, I rejoined Witton Albion’s board during the turmoil left by the resignation of Jim Vince, and the subsequent upheaval by the more prominent Football Secretary, Graham Edgeley at the end of the 2007/2008 season. Thanks to the fact that I had retired from work, Peter Riley and myself managed to perform the duties of Football Secretary and Office Administration between us during the 2008/2009 season.

However, this summer I have come out of retirement, and I am now back working for a living, and as such, I informed Mark Harris that I may struggle this season to devote as much time to the football club as I did last season. Mark acted quickly to bring a very experienced Football Secretary in Graham Shuttleworth to boost the ranks of the board.

Graham Shuttleworth has settled in very quickly, and is now filling in the void left by Graham Edgeley very admirably. As such, I feel now is the right time to take a step back and resume my role as an active spectator.

Hope to see you all at the match against Matlock Town."

I would like thank you for the work you have done for Witton over the last year and a half, Jeff.

I am sure the club is in a much better position then it would have otherwise been if you had not taken the job on.

Welcome back to the rank and file of the terraces!

Arise Sir Jeffrey. Everyone appreciates what u have done for WAFC.

At least there will be a bit more room in the office now !

Here here, stepped into the role during a difficult time and worked very hard to make the transitions seamless. Not an easy task and one performed very well by a good wittoner. Be good to have you back on the terraces.

Thanks for what you have done for the club, it IS much appreciated!

People who take on jobs at the club have my utmost respect, they are the life blood of the club.
WHS.
