For those who don’t normally listen (of course everyone does) to the Mid-Cheshire Football Phone-in, this is advanced notice that we will be speaking with Jim Vince on this Friday’s programme!
Also on the programme this week amongst the studio guests will be Mark Robinson.
Excellent because this show needs some quality as its begining to get a bit stale. I think 1 hour 55 minutes of Vics going out of business going over the same old ground last week was very gruelling. I accept that this is top news at the moment and will not go away but I found it quite boring last week especially when the presenter repeated every Vics quote half a dozen times. I really enjoyed the five minutes Witton had towards the end.
Lets hope Jim and Mark will get a fair crack of the whip on the airplay front.
No disrespect to Peter Grimes of Vics trust on this as he came over as a guy who is passionate about his club and is quite knowledgeable about the situation and talks a lot of sense. I get the impression that Peter is one of those guys who would like to see vics start from scratch and have the club run more democratically. Good luck to him and the other genuine Vics supporters. I hope you dont continue to finance a certain persons pension fund a minute longer!!
i agree with mona about last weeks phone in it was very one sided not enough about witton hope its changes this week. gettin a bit board of people goin on about vics ;D
To be fair they rely on who phones in so if you want it to be more witton then its up to us all to get on the phone, I know its a lot easier to ring up when you want to have a moan as five live proves every saturday but now is the time to try and spread the word on how well we are playing and what a great squad we have at the moment, don’t just sit back, made your voice heard!!!
The past two weeks have been ‘biased’ towards Northwich Victoria but really for very understandable reasons. Last week we had exclusive audio of the announcement from the new consortium of their plans to save their club. Plus we had the first and only interview so far in all local media with Ian Campbell the prospective new Chairman of the the club. In media terms this was a big story last week; we supplied clips of audio to Sentanta and Granada TV as we were the only people to have recorded the events.
It needs putting into the context that Northwich Victoria could have been wound-up this Wednesday, which would have been the end of the football club!!! The club has now made an application for Administration and sought an adjournment to the winding-up petition. This continues to be a ‘big story’ in local football.
Would you want the amount of coverage we have given if it was Witton in this situation? Fans want to find out as much as they can!
We did not receive any phone calls from Witton fans last week and as Picko says it is your calls we rely on, so you know what to do!
At the first opportunity to restore balance in our coverage we spoke to Jim Vince and asked him to join us for an interview this evening. Jim will be the first our local managers to appear on the programme and it has to be said that your manager has been very supportive in the opening 6/7 weeks of the programme. It is Jim who has consented to access and set-up the interviews with Mark Peers and Brian Pritchard (the only 2 players to have appeared on the show too). Thank you to Jim.
So although the Vics story has dominated (and you are always welcome to give us your view on that), the only manager and players to appear from the programme so far are from WAFC. I feel sure that Vics fans would prefer to listen to their manager(s) and players rather than debate the situation they are currently in!
We really appreciate your comments and feedback as it helps to shape the programme (also and I probably should not tell you this at the moment we are planning one hour specials at Christmas dedicated to each club to review the half way stage of the season)!!!
Mr Cheshire FM man. Thanks for coming on and explaining your viewpoint. I accept that the VICS news is on everyone’s lips at the moment and as you quite rightly say its down to Wittoners to ring in and get the club more airplay so to speak. Fair play but if you could just say we will cover Witton at 1845 or something I could go and do something else while I’m waiting. I’ve watched Witton for 49 years and I’ve seen Northwich Vics going to the wall on many many occassions. They never do because someone always steps in and rescues them. Its just from a personal viewpoint I find it a bit predicatable now but I do feel for those genuine vics fans and hope they still have a club to support even if its in a lower league.
Don’t let my personal view put you off the show is well worth listening to and I find it interesting when Winsford are involved particularly Mark Loveless who sounds a bit of a character. Peter Grimes also speaks well on the Vics side and I don’t mind them having 45 minutes of the hour as long as I know when our bit is coming on!! After all Witton are top of the league and have one of the best managers in non league soccer.I’m looking forward to listening to Jim tonight because he’s always very articulate and passionate about the game. It will hopefully make a change from the legal stuff going on in the Vics camp which has very little to do with the on field activity!!
It’s a little radio trick, we don’t tell you when your bit is on so that you have to listen to the whole programme!!!
I’ll give the game away tonight; Jim Vince will be with us at approx 6.10/6.15 and Mark will be with us throughout the programme talking about the Kendal game, FA Trophy last year, etc. The preview of the Ashton game will be at 6.45/6.50!
We’ll be asking Jim his thoughts regarding the departure of Doryll Proffitt, leaving Pritchard/Brodie/Proffitt out of the starting line-up on Tuesday and naturally his thoughts on tomorrow’s game! Should make for an interesting interview!!!
We would dearly love to hear how you compare the current Witton side with any from the last 49 years, when was the football last this good at Wincham Park, how do the modern day players compare with some of the club’s past legends? 01606 555 925.
Thanks again for your comments, this is the first local radio phone-in discussing Witton in the 49 years you have been watching them!!! It has taken a while to get this far and hopefully it will become a programme that all fans enjoying over the coming months and years.
I think Cheshire FM are doing a great job for both clubs in Northwich at the moment and "Mr Cheshire FM" is doing a good job in reporting for WAFC and promoting our club - more than anyone has done for years! I think we should therefore show them some respect and trust that they know how to produce the show accordingly.
Of course there has been more coverage on Vics over the past (1) show! Their fans and the other people of Northwich/Middlewich and Winsford (regardless of which team they follow) want to hear whats going on!
Sounds like a great show tonight, I am looking forward to hearing what JV has to say.
Thanks to Cheshire FM for their continued support.
Now now RAW!! I don’t think Mona was having a dig at Cheshire FM in the slightest, i think he was just expressing a desire to hear more about Witton and to not sit through the usual soap opera that comes from our neighbours (no pun intended…!!).
I fully understand where he is coming from, but at the same time i appreciate that Ches FM have done an excellent job in covering all of the goings on at the VS of late.
Anyway, as a married woman i would suggest your time would be better spent looking after your husband rather than defending an anonymous local minor-celebrity on here…
Thanks Robbo thats exactly what I meant. Cheshire FM is ok and I’m looking forward to tonights show with you and Jim believe me. It’s just a personal thing that the Vics thing is getting a bit boring having been around a great number of years I’ve seen all this before with Vics always getting rescued at the last minute by something or someone. I wish all genuine Vics fans well and I hope the club survives but my interest begins to tail off after an hour and a half of bankrupcy, aministration, consortiums etc. Its difficult to get the right balance and my view is definately a personal one. I think Cheshire FM is doing ok and I shall continue to listen and support and all the more now that the guy has been on here and replied to my viewpoint.
Good show last night. Brilliantly presented again.excellent guests and a good spread of local footie. Just lacking a few more callers, u will not get many from Wittoners as we are riding high but expect more from the pathetic lot over the the canal ( do they really care ).
