John Bishop

Mentioned The Albs on 5 LIVE last week and is on Soccer A.M. this morning.

Top Bloke and immortilised in one of the 1st fanzines in the country - ‘Bishop 3-1’.

Lets hope as his star continues to rise, we get a bit more publicity.

What is john bishops conecction to Witton?

Not sure myself, but his brother Eddie was part of the management team here. Eddie also played for The Thatched Tavern.

Eddie`s famous header !!

He played for Witton as well, im sure chad can give the stats sometime, was a good character and not too bad a footballer, probably lacked a bit of pace but 100% effort

Of Course I Can - Only too pleased to supply. Bish was on Live at the Apollo on BBC1 last week and I’ve seen him acting on Channel4 in “Skins” - he played the part of the girl twins’ dad - well made up to look older.

The reference to Bishop 3-1 made by the youngster refers to him scoring the last goal in our very memorable F.A. Trophy victory over Yeovil Town at the snowy Central Ground on 23-Jan-1988: YEOVIL T. (FAT Rd 2) 3-1 1020 Simpson Parsley Brissett Boyle Kilduff BISHOP Davison Deeley PLATTS ESSER Whitlow Jarvis (10) Higginbotham (4)

John was on the panel tonight of Eight Out Of Ten Cats,a very trendy, topical, happening show.It was exceptionally crude tonight,i hope that wasnt Johns influence.

I thought he was very funny!

Scouse git !

I’m pretty sure Robbo was born in Northwich!

…on Jonathan Ross tonight.

He’s also the dad of the twins in Skins - for those who watch it… Probably a bit too modern for the majority of people on here…

I watched Jonathon Ross but didn`t see you on it Robbo?

Footage of Bish scoring for the Albion on Sky 1’s ‘A League of their Own’ this week.

It is repeated over the weekend.

Me and Robbo saw Bish in Rhyl last week, it was an excellent show, and afterwards we had a good chat, he asked about Witton and passed his regards on to my old fella and others.

Still a genuinely good bloke and he can’t actually believe how quickly his star has risen, totally grounded though!

Best memory was obviously after the Yeovil game on the lash and all night he kept repeating:

‘All the way from Yeovil and we beat them 3 four king one!’

Hence the title!

Do you think Bish would come and do a gig in the social club to help us raise some money ?
