John Bond strikes again

Vics have named vastly experienced ex Bradford Park Avenue and Stocksbridge Park Steels coach Neil Redfearn as the new manager.

experience player no doubt about that having trawled through all the leagues but as a manager expected to gain promotion at the first attempt (Connetts words) not so sure, especially as he has to play Connett jnr in goal all the time (Burrs words)

Neil Redfearn may have bucket loads of playing experience and a great appreciation of the game, but that doesn’t make the manager and it will be interesting to see how he gets on. Reminds me a bit of when we got Ray Ranson. Even Cloughie who had the benefit of his dad looking over his shoulder has struggled to get Burton in the FL and I think they are much better run and stronger club than Vics.

As for Mr Bond - will be interesting to see how long he stays around!!

hasn’t he managed a Conference club before?!?

I think he was caretaker at Scarborough for a while but left when they brought in Mark Patterson (I think)…

Well let’s hope V*cs do a Scarbro’ then!

Well its good to see John Bond still has a keen eye when advising clubs on managers… wonder where Connett the clown whisked him off to???

From the local press

Exclusive By Andrew Simpson
MIKE Connett spoke to Neil Redfearn tonight about his future at Northwich Victoria.

A visibly crestfallen Redfearn was whisked away from Throstle Nest by his boss without speaking to the press following his side’s disastrous 2-1 defeat to Farsley Celtic.

He barely even had time to speak to his underachieving players.

Connett, clearly furious at the final whistle, waited for Redfearn at the tunnel entrance before the pair left the ground together.

Just a thought;

But if Alty, Droylsden, Stafford, and Vics finish as the bottom 4…then who goes into Conf South?!?

My guess would be Stafford and Vics

Mine too!! That would be quite amusing ;D

It wouldn’t Who said it would?!

The point is it would be quite amusing if Vics had to travel down south every other week!!

By the way, have you seen some of the teams currently in Unibond Div1 SOUTH?! Sheffield?!

From Guardian Website;

NEIL Redfearn defended himself - and his players - after they sunk to the foot of the table.

Vics were well beaten by Burton, but their under-fire manager was unpeturbed by the first signs of discontent towards him from the Danebank.

"They’ll call for my head but I’ll stick by these players," he told the Guardian afterwards.

"I won’t let them beat themselves up after their performance today, they showed the endeavour I’ve been asking for."

Vics were the better side for the opening quarter hour before the Brewers assumed control.

A goal then could have changed the game, according to Redfearn.

"If we score first I’m confident we could have got something from the game," he said.

"The players can’t let their heads drop, we’ve got to keep plugging away.

"I thought we played as much football on the deck tonight as we have all season.

"It’s disappointing we haven’t won, but they are a decent side and will do what they’ve done to us to many other teams in this division."

A Vics fan responds;

Which flipping game was he watching, we were garbage and the tactics come from one man -HIM. Tactically inept and his reaction of indifference to the vitriolic and justified anger of loyal fans who have given up a lot of dosh to watch that shambles just beggars belief - REDFEARN OUT!

Thought i would add the BBC 606 thread on the subject (i’m spirit of istanbul by the way hahahahaha!!!)

Northwich Vics, going down?
Non League Northwich Victoria
by Alibabes_CCFC 17 August 2007

Chester City fan here, I keep an eye out on most of the local non-league sides and their comings and goings… what are your initial thoughts on Neil Redfearn, and your new look squad?

I was shocking by the departure of Steve Burr at the end of last season, mainly due to the quality side he had assembled whilst all the problems with the stadium etc were going on in the background, just when it looked like you had a close season of stability on both off the field and on it, the brightest manager you’ve had since Keith Alexander resigns, and a mass player exodus occurs…

I have serious worries about the way your season could go this year, Mike Connett the chairman as reportedly said he expects a charge for the play-offs. That is an extremely un-realistic view in my opinion, had you kept Burr and most of last seasons squad with one or two additions then that target might not have been so-unrealistic, now, I think a season of safety would be a good year considering all the upheavel at the club in recent months.

Where’s the panic button? Avoiding relegation will be a cinch!

Avoiding relegation is about our best case scenario at present. We desperatley need a goalkeeper and some organization at the back. we’ve got good attacking options but the goals conceded to Droylesden were very poor.
At the end of last season there was a list of who was staying and who was going. I thought the lists were mixed up as we let Mark Roberts, Phil Senior and Stuart Elliot go whilst keeping Ryan Brown and Kevin Townson. Charnock leaving was always on the cards and I’m delighted that Michael Carr has stayed. Of the new guys, Simon Rusk, Paul Tait and Michael Welch all look good, but we don’t look as fit as we should be or as organized as we should be. At the minute, I’ll take survival.

Sad to say this, But from what ive seen so far, we are in for a very long Hard Season. We are all over the place at the back, and our centre backs are both far too slow - even Brayson could out run them on Monday. Paul Tait should never play again, he is well over 6 foot - until he jumps! he never wins a header and cant run.

Lee Steele looked busy on debut - 20 mins later he is out for 6 weeks. Desperately need Johnny Allan back and we need our midfield to create him some chances. If our current from carries on i fear that Carr, Williams and Allan will move on and thats certain relegation.

Redfearn has done nothing to suggest he is half the manager Burr was - Although Burr showed his true colours by stabbing us in the back!

GOING DOWN GOING DOWN GOING DOWN, GOING DOWN GOING DOWN GOING DOWN, GOING DOWN GOING DOWN GOING DOWN, GOING DOWN, GOOOOOING DOWN!!!

With best wishes from everyone at Wincham Park.
See you in the Conference North next year.

It’s one thing discussing Vics’ problems on here, but gloating on a national website makes us look pretty childish.
I would suggest that we keep any comments restricted to this part of our own website.

That’s what 606 is there for Robbo.

Sense of humour failure today?

No, it’s for general discussion. Not needless gloating that refers to ‘Everyone At Wincham Park’.
It’s not about a sense of humour, it’s about not wanting the average Witton fan to look like a mindless idiot. Don’t forget; fans of football clubs up and down the country read 606. We are trying to build a reputation as a good-humoured and loyal set of followers, not people who get satisfaction from the mis-fortune of other football fans.

Hopefully they will go down, and we’ll all have a good laugh about it in May. But for the time-being let’s restrict the ‘humerous comments’ to this website, and to a bit of banter if we play them this season. The more we gloat now in the public domain, then the more right that they will have to gloat if they stay up and we don’t gain promotion.

I have a few friends who watch Vics, and as a former avid follower yourself then i am sure you have quite a few too, therefore i’d rather Witton fans keep a bit of dignity and save any gloating until May - when hopefully we will be able to look forward to 2 league derbies next season in Blue Square North.

Hark at Mr Sensible - that is usually my job!!!

Get back to talking rubish, you are worrying me!!!

;D

The V**s message board makes for interesting reading at the moment! Here’s just one of the fantastic comments!

Isn’t the assistant manager Phil Sharp not kevin sharp.
Unless Redfearn is gone by saturday I think we will struggle to get 500.

They have set an online petition up for NR to get the boot!!! Who’s gonna set one up for him to stay?!?

Perhaps we should do something for saturday, like all bring a mate, with it being FA Cup,and with us both being at home we could end up getting more than Vics!

How about get in for free with a Vics season ticket!!! It is very unfair that their fans never get to see any decent football!!!
