JON DAWSON

Jon Dawson has today left the club due to personal reasons. Witton Albion Football Club would like to thank him for his services and hope to see him again next season.

What is going on with jon dawson this is bad news the lad always gives 100 per cent what are the personal reasons it does not make sense to me

The personal reasons are jons so it’s not our business to ask. I hope it’s not football related because he is one of our more consistent players and he’s been loyal to witton over a bad few seasons.
Whatever the reason, good luck to the lad and I hope we see him again soon.

Quite right it is his busines but if it is football related then somebody should tell the truth .this lad has been one of our best players this season and it shows in his commitment to the club and the fans.no it does
not add up to me

Totally agree Zico - I had heard a rumour that there was a budget / pay cut imposed after transfer deadline day? If so poor show and what message does this send out if we want to try and keep one of our better players and to step on next season!
Any thoughts?

It’s a waste of time speculating. As the post says and i quote FOR PERSONAL REASONS, and as such is personal to Jon, so let’s leave it at that and hope he resolves these issues and is back with the club in the near future. Good luck Jon, hope to see you back soon.

We have more budget cuts than the tories

Sadly this appears not to be personal reasons according to Jon’s Facebook page.

Once again a spectacular own goal by the club.

Oh dear this is a tricky one to explain. Run through brick walls that lad a real true professional who will be sorely missed.

No doubt board will blame fans

I dont know for sure but I bet the board asked for a budget cut and the Manager worked it out within his plans ? either way Jon Dawson should not have been treated unfairly - it is obvious Carl has issues with Jon dropping him a few weeks ago and bringing him off yesterday when the more obvious thing to do was to push him on as a wing back as we went 3 at the back much more to offer on the left than any other squad member.

Unbelievable why do we always shoot ourselves in the foot. Jon is a really nice lad who has improved in the left back position so much so that I was voting for him as player of the season. He always gives 100% and when he gets forward always looks dangerous with decent crosses. If its down to budget cuts then I can think of at least 6 players I’d get rid of before him. Its pretty obvious given he was dropped that the football management team don’t rate Jon as first choice left back.Obviously if it is for personal reasons then fair enough but Jon would always be one of the first names on my team sheet.
The other underlying issue here is budget cuts. I appreciate we have to live within our means but it does’nt auger well for next season when we will have a shortfall of 20k with no JR Vics money coming in. This is all really depressing news when our football management team seem to be getting us at least a mid table team together. How do clubs like Trafford and others do as well if not better on less resources than we have? Gutted just when we seem to be getting out of the mire!!

We will hear the same old excuses ‘when we sign a player we have to pay them £30 more a week because we’re Witton Albion’ or ‘if fans didn’t stay away…’ If it is down to budgets then this is disgraceful, when you look at Titchiner being paid probably 3 times what Dawson is and has been for the last 3 seasons or more, and strolls around the pitch shrugging his shoulders, maybe if we didn’t pamper such useless talents then players who give their all wouldn’t have to leave!!! Dawson would run through a brick wall for this club! But like you say maybe it’s down to other reasons suppose we will find out soon enough?

Alex Titchener is not “a useless talent”. He has had a couple of nasty injuries and ,yes, his form hasn’t reached the peaks of the promotion season when he was mercurial, but he works hard for the club off the pitch too with the community side of things.

Anyway regards Jon yes a lovely lad and worked his socks off out on the pitch for the club, and kept on improving. His reaction when we went down said it all, poor lad was in floods of tears! I do hope it is for personal reasons (I’m not party to owt on’t facebook) and not that he’s been sacked.

SURELY IF WE HAVE TO MAKE SAVINGS THE LOGICAL THING TO DO
WOULD HAVE BEEN TO GET THE SQUAD TOGETHER EXPLAIN THAT THE CLUB NEEDS THEIR HELP
AND ASK THEM ALL TO ACCEPT A £5 OR £10 REDUCTION TILL THE END OF THE SEAON I,M SURE THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN ACCEPTABLE TO THE SQUAD
AND WOULD HAVE SAVED MORE.THIS IS BASIC GOOD MAN MANAGEMENT SKILLS RATHER THAN CAUSE DISHARMONY IN THE DRESSING ROOM BY VICTIMISING JON THIS WAY.
THIS GIVES ME GRAVE DOUBTS ABOUT CARL,S MAN MANAGEMENT SKILLS

Your right Marston Mauler that was harsh and uncalled for, it was a heat of the moment comment that I shouldn’t have made apologies, I have text Titch to apologies and hope that’s the end of the matter. Just engaging mouth before brain.

very sorry to see Jon go. As has been said by others, win , lose or draw always gave it 100% and never let the badge down unlike some at the start of the season. Sure he would of played in goal if asked. Off the field too always had time for a chat in the club even after a defeat. Good look mate and thanks for all your effort for Witton Albion bowdown

Having had time to reflect on the loss of JD I must say it leaves a real bitter taste in the mouth. For the sake of £30 a week I cannot believe the chairman has done this without at least speaking to the supporters. JD was everything and more you expect in a player, a role model to the younger supporters and for me the most improved player of the season. People keep asking where are our supporters???I fear this decision is going to cost the club significantly more than £30 a week. I can only summise that JD didn’t feature in Carl’s plans and in my opinion that is a real shame.

Would like to join the growing band of support and thanks for all Jon,s efforts in a Witton shirt. Bet he must be wondering why he bothered, when he could have just been some managers best mate and got picked every week without putting much effort into his game. Once again, thanks Jon and all the best for the future. bowdown

As a follower not a supporter I fear for a club that I once cherished gutted what it has seemed to become
