I have been informed earlier today about the sad passing of another former Witton player from the 50s & 60s. Centre half Jonny Wainwright sadly passed away within the last two weeks. I haven’t got anymore information or details regarding him apart from to say I had heard people mention him and had seen newspaper cuttings from around that time.
Good player Johnny . He was in the first Witton team I saw in 1953.
I must have seen him play but I don’t recall his name.
