Junior Albs

Myself and Ste Yoxall are looking to re-lauch the Junior Albs junior supporters club.

Currently throwing some ideas around, but we could use the input of some of those Wittoners that used to be members.

What are you memories of being a “Junior Alb”?
What was good about the old Junior Supporters Club?
What could be improved?

We’re looking at a registration fee of £5 for the season. This will include regular newsletters, a season ticket, players autographs, mentions in the programme, and a free gift.

Looking for memebrs from birth up to the age of 15/16. Free membership up to the age of 5.

Any thoughts?

Any former Junior Albs who would sign their children up now?

You can put my two grandsons down, one will be five in July, the other two in December. They won’t see many games but I mean to start them off as they mean to go on, Wittoners from cradle to grave!
WHS.

OH YES I REMEMBER THE DAYS! :woohoo:

I remember being a mascot on my birthday (and several other times) going into the little wooden hut by the tea bar and getting the kit on, then coming on the pitch and having a kick about, before being led to the changing room doors and standing outside waiting for the bell to go off and the team coming out of the tunnel (I remember one time that sticks in my head Graham Abel wouldn’t come out of the changing room until he had had a glass of milk) good times

I even remember there being a programme that every junior members face on it (I used to get the programme and try and find my picture on it every week) and Iam sure I got a signed picture of Keith Mason that I still have at my mums I used to have it stuck on my wall next to my bed and wish one day I could be Keith Mason  (yes Iam a saddo! but I could go on and on with memories of this and if one child could get as excited as I used to from this would be enough)

This is DEFINATE must to bring back DEFINATE!

Iam sure Jimmy Powell used to run it iam sure he could give a few tips.

Registration forms available at the friendlies.

Jimmy is the Obi-Wan to my Luke Skywalker. Don’t worry, we wouldn’t have progressed this far without “Uncle” Jimmy’s assistance

Thanks for the above Jonny, it cements our decision to press on with this - i’ll be calling on you for more of your memories in due course.

Great idea! :cheer:

Does anyone remember the ‘When I Grow Up I Want to Play for Witton Albion’ t-shirts? (I think I still have one at my mums somewhere) They had stickmen (i think) playing football on them, they were great I used to wear mine all the time, maybe a retro t-shirt like that could be the little gift or put on sale again in the club shop?

Also do you remember those little bags of 1p sweets they used to sell at the tea hut? Think they cost 20p or something like that, they were great as a child to, I remember stealing all the 20p’s out of my mums purse before going to watch Witton every Saturday ha ha

Those were the days… :frowning:

One of things we might need at some point is a website.

Is there anybody that could potentially help us out with that?

Robbo, you are a bl…y genius! What a great idea.
WHS.

Hoping to get in touch with as many of the members from the mid-90s as possible.

Most of these i know, but some i don’t.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I know Andrew Chesworth if that’s any help? Wouldn’t it have been better to put up who you didn’t know. Seriously though I might know a couple of them.

That’s the full list.
I need to speak to all of them.
Hence they have all been published on here.
Thanks.

I see. Well I know Laurence Tonkin and Thomas Pickering think his younger brother is will if that helps?

Brill. Can you get email addresses for them?

Sent them to you on FB

Plans moving forward for the junior supporters club.

Looks like the package we are offering will be excellent, therefore we are likley to be charging 10 pounds for the first child, and 5 for any additional children in the same household.

membership will however be frozen at five pounds until the first week of September when Chorley visit us.

Should be able to post full details this week, but might be worth taking full advantage of this offer whilst you can as it really is great value for money.

Forms are available in the club shop on matchdays
