Just a thought - now we are beginning to increase our fan base what about re-forming the Witton Albion " Supporters Club " ? I am sure we used to have one once upon a time ! We have got a successful supporters football team, fund raisers, event organisers, everything is going ok teamwise so this is probably a good time to get everybody together and spread the load a bit and push on for the challenge of hopefully a higher league next season. The more fans we can encourage to get involved can only benefit the club . A supporters page in the programme would not go amiss either for those who do not have the net.
I have been thinking about something along those lines Eli, I was going to speak to GE, Chad and Neil about the idea for next season, first idea was a one off payment for basic membership which would give you some small reward (not sure what yet) and a gold membership for a monthly payment which would give you things like discount on away travel, and maybe a monthly meeting where we can get the Manager/assistant or a player to have a little Q and A session or even the chairman!
Like I say the idea is still in its infancy but it would be interesting to gauge peoples response
I promise that if we win the league or the play offs I will happily help run the Supporters club. I have prior knowledge of secretarial work and of being a treasurer. I intend to retire soon so I will have the time.
WHS.
The club needs help at all levels whether we win the league or not - thats a bit of an unfair condition.
If you have the time please get involved anyway then we could achieve more as more people get involved.
It may well be an unfair condition Neil but I made it because I feel so depressed that we might be spending yet another season in this awful league. There was one Frickley supporter shouting at our last home game, you get more support in the Sunday league. Yes, I know that does not apply to us, but it does apply to virtually every other Club in this league. My offer still stands, I may well change my mind if we don’t go up and join the Supporters Club, but at the moment my “brain” cannot get away from the horrible thought of Witton stuck in this league again.

I/We have been asking for help to run/organise the events for the WA Development Fund/Players Fund for the last two years!
Other than the usual suspects, Jim P,Len,Neil,Robbo,GE,Rabbit noone else has come forward, and thats when were doing well!!!
If your not careful you’ll end up with meetings and a talking shop, and being brutally honest the appeal would be to a maximum of 100 supporters.
Instead of pontificating why not do something! Organise a function/event encourage new people into the club, all of these can be done without the need for a ‘Supporters Association’. It just takes effort and commitment. I will encourage and support anyone in these aims.
Our club is open to all, the chairman and manager are always available to speak to.
Woh Andy! I think you are getting a bit upset over nothing, the idea of a Supporters Association can easily be run alongside, and in conjunction with, what we already have, don’t shout at people who want to get involved even though they may have missed the chance to do so in the past.
WHS.
I’m not upset Alan, I think its fabulous that people want to get involved, the more the merrier, but as with everything in life, actions speak louder than words!
My point was merely that the opportunity to get involved exists and has always been there.
Neil needs someone to help him run the club shop so that his time can be deployed elsewhere in particular with the junior initiative. GE has been asking for help in the tea huts, JE has been asking for more people to steward, Julia could do with people volunteering to be gate people, the list goes on, the groundstaff need help on the pitch!
Any takers!?!
I know Eli does his bit but this forum can’t half be frustrating when you see some of the postings.
Having spoken to several people yesterday I think u are right Andy. I will continue to do my small bit and just maybe my posting will have encouraged others to get involved in some way.
