Lairds versus Albion

The state of the rock hard bumpy pitch and the strong swirling wind didn’t help the better footballing side, and levelled the match. I think it will be difficult to make the play-offs, but you never know. KTF

It was’nt good today but we are still in with a chance and there will be a few more twists and turns before the fat lady sings. Bumpy pitches and swirling winds are expected at this stage of the season and you have to adapt accordingly. Can’t fault for effort again but we were not good enough to take all 3 points.
Good turnout of supporters ( little quiet though ) - well over half the crowd !

It’s got to be 3 wins or bust now !

MOM Pritch

A game we should have won really, they were not good, long ball, hoofed clearances, a couple of tidy in your face players but we had most of the possession and chances but we really do lack a bit of guile in centre mid they work hard but lack the class to unlock defences likes todays, I think we waste heler playing him on the left he really can go past players, maylett on the other hand does not although tricky he does not deliver crosses so id swap them and let brad cut in and cause trouble, and given it was 1-1 with 10 mins or so to go why not chase the game go 3 centre backs and 3 strikers just something different to unsettle the oppos defence we are so predictable sometimes this was a game we needed to win ? not sure we will do it now, too many teams that can pass us they wont all fail surely

ps agree pitch was very poor along with the liner and ref

All we had to do second half was ‘same again’ as the first half. Instead we retreated 20 yards further back, and the inevitable happened.

2 points taken fron 2 games against Lairds, simply not good enough.

We have been blaming refs liners and pitches all season - should we not be looking at other factors as well ?

oh hell, like every one else, would have been a lot happier with 3 points, and more of a chance of the play offs, but a point is a lot better than no points at all.Have got to win remaining games now to be in with any chance of playoffs.will do best to get up for next home game, but can,t promise,as may be down in Wolverhampton?unless grand kids are up here.

stevieG - r u WHS in disguise?

All is not lost yet, but away win at Stamford now required (aswell as obviously winning our two home games). We weren’t good enough today against an average side. Looks like there was trouble at leek v kidsgrove today with a leek fan ripping up kidsgrove flag and spitting at kidsgrove keeper. May want to avoid going there in the play offs.

Right now i would settle for going away to Iraq in the play offs given chance!!

Ktf! Also to be fair to the leek fans on their website they are pretty disgusted at what happened there today. There’s always 1 that ruins it for everyone

Pretty much sums it up in less than 10 words! To be honest that is the story of the season, we are clutching at straws for 5th play-off position having lost 13 games (one third of those played). It’s a bad league when you can still be third having been as poor as we have been at times.

WE have been the best in the league several times in the last few years, much good it did us, this time we can get what we deserved then, by making the play offs and winning them. Games in hand are not points, we have only three games to get injuries and suspensions, others have five or six. Teams in this league have not tended to win more than a couple of games on the trot and it is unlikely to change now. I still say we can be 5th with 72 points.

I hope you’re right WHS. Yesterday was 2 points dropped rather than 1 gained and we are running out of opportunities. I think if we won the remaining three games then we could possibly finish fifth although of course even winning them all does not guarantee this.

My predicted table would look something like this;

Mickleover 91
Chasetown 79
Glapwell 79
Kidsgrove 77
Sheffield 74
Belper 74
Witton 73
Leek 73

It’s going to go down to the the wire and leave us with a difficult play-off away game !

The Effort was ok can’t fault the lads for that. I just can’t make out what Mr Finlay is doing. We played well 1st half Saturday but yet again we change the team with Heler playing on the left and Brad playing a totally different role. Heler seems far more comfortable on the right and delivers quality balls. Brad was not as effective in this game and Luke’s pace might have been useful. I can see bringing in ronnie might have been a good move against his old club but still think Heler is our match winner and should play on the right.
Until the small lad came on for Lairds I thought they were a poor side. However the small lad showed what can be done by holding the ball and beating men. Very dissapointing not to get all 3 points but we are still in the mix!! It does mean we have to win every game now but I just think we’ve had half a dozen games (Brigg away being the best example), where we should have won and we’d be up there with Mickleover. Nuff said lets get up and at em starting Saturday with Lincoln!!

Poor game, poor pitch but Lairds best gate of the season - 132

Think we’re out of it to be honest and look forward to next years Derby at Lairds (not).

We were extremely lucky to get a point in the end.
Their number 9 missed an absolute sitter in the last few minutes.
