Lancaster City vs Witton Albion.

Witton face another tough game on Saturday afternoon when they travel north up the M6 again to take on Lancaster City in a Northern Premier League Premier Division fixture.

The long wait for a home victory was ended on Tuesday night with an excellent victory and performance against one of the in-form teams in Morpeth who have their eyes on the play offs.

Not only was it the relief of three vital points, but also the way in which it was achieved in coming back from 2-1 down and particularly with key players missing in Josh Wardle, Rob Hopley, James Foley and of course leading scorer Callum Saunders who made a brief appearance just before the end.

Players who adapted and filled in well in very unfamiliar positions particularly Ben Pleavin and Nathan Okome, made the result all the more satisfying.

Also, Joe Mwasile and James Lawrie finally opening their accounts in Albion shirts was an added bonus alsongside the tireless efforts of Will Jones.

Lancaster have got the better of Witton in the two previous meetings this season, both at the U Lock It Stadium winning the league fixture by the odd goal in five and then ending our involvement in the Buildbas FA Challenge Trophy.

Tuesday night’s success will surely bring new confidence to the Witton team as they go in search of another three vital points as they continue their fight for survival.

Games against Lancaster are always tough and this will be no different, and a performance similar to that on Tuesday night will be needed if Witton are to continue their improvement and gain the required result.

Come on boys, another performance like Tuesday’s will surely get us the three points and after that who knows, we may even get to safety. UTA

Will be tough again, Lancaster has always been tough for Witton, very hard to change a winning team that did well on Tuesday! But if Rob and Josh are fit do you leave them out? Good luck whoever plays. UTA

Great result. Well done everybody, well done Carl & Gary & another clean sheet for Greg, which will do his confidence no harm!
