Great! well done Carl Lamb!!

It’s nearly half 11 here, I assume it finished 1 each?

Not a bad point. I notice that the game attracted the highest league attendance of the three leagues this evening. Still some life in two old dogs yet…

Yes! It did finish 1-1 and unfortunately as I tried to type in the full time score I lost connection to the forum and couldn’t get it back on. So apologies for the delay.

Anyway 6th in the league so still in a good position and a trip to Brigg to come at the weekend. Taking nothing for granted, if we perform as we can then there’s no reason why we shouldn’t go there and win.

Sh*t pitch as we’d expect at Leek. The lads played well most of the game but couldn’t put it in the net. Anyway 10 points from 4 games is excellent and I’d take 10 from our next 4 too. Roll on 3 points on Saturday.

Thanks Wheels the forum did one of it’s dissapearing acts never come across anything like it apart from on this website!! A win at Brigg would be great thats a good point tonight!!

Only one team playing football and it certainly was’nt Leek, Would have settled for a point before kick off but we should have come away with 3 points. Lamby’s goal was a header from a superb cross from Heler.

Pies were rubbish.

As I left the ground, I heard a comment from one of their fans:

“How the hell did we get a point out of this game! Witton started like a whirlwind, and kept it up all game! Thank god we don’t have to play them again this season!!!”

On reflection a point was not a bad result from a ground where we rarely come back with much. The performance arguably merited three points. At this stage of the season we need to do whatever it takes to win games like this one, otherwise we’ll be looking back at the end of the season saying ‘we could have won at Leek’.

Started superbly and had half a dozen chances in the first 15 minutes. They then scored against the run of play, we were caught out at the back trying to hold our line and they burst forward. It looked like a strong shout for offside against the guy who put the ball in the net (and therefore clearly was interfering with play). We were nearly caught out a couple of times later with long punts over the top.

Leek know you can’t play football on the surface and as a result every cross field or forward pass is in the air, whilst we tried to play our usual game we eventually worked out that we needed to play the same way.

We had a great opportunity to win it with Lamby hitting over the bar from in front of goal, but in fairness it did look to bobble as it came to him.

10 points from 4 games is good return. If we can win at home and draw away then a two point a game average is probably enough to win the league. We have to play Mickleover and Glapwell both home and away yet, they are going to be big games.

Good character in last night’s performance and a valuable point.

We played well on a rubbish pitch, not many worse in sunday league, Leek organised there HOOFERS and CHASERS well were physical and will be hard to beat but could I watch that dross evry week ? We seem to have sorted out our weaknesses now with both full backs tandy and lloyd playing well, the only problem I had last night was that LEEK had worked us out in terms of dealing with our 4 3 3 and narrowed there back 4 to cope well, We should have tried something different imo eg 442 and got at there defence more, Pete Heler did it superbly for lambys goal and I thought this showed the way but we rarely threatened the flanks again, any way a good point and its still onwards and upwards.

Cmon Wittern

We were excellent last night to the point where even the home fans could not believe how they got anything from the game. If we take this form forwards we will get more successes than not. We might not have got what we deserved, but anyone from opposing teams watching that game last night will not be looking forward to playing us.

Location: Chapel en le Frith Living in Derbyshire and just 19 miles from Leek I’d never made a trip to Harrison Park and being a ground-hopper it was nice to get the ground ticked off last night for the game v Witton Albion.

The ground itself Leek fans, I like. 3 decent sized terraces and a nice main stand, shame you attract such little support as I’m sure the ground holds 15 times the 229 there yesterday evening.

The game, how the hell Leek are that high up the table I simply do not know, Witton ripping Leek into shreds in the first half and it was very classy football. Leek’s style or lack of it was a let down, it would have been nice to see two attacking sides and we may have seen more than a 1-1 draw.

Second half was dissappointing from both sides I feel, credit to Witton though as they plugged away and got a deserved equaliser. Then the not so good, sections of Leek Town’s support…

I was stood on the side terrace first half flask in hand and although I was a total neutral I couldn’t believe how much your players and supporters protested every decision. Two men telling the linesman he was having a bad game first half when in actual fact the officials first half did a decent job. Second half I stood behind the goal Leek were attacking, one man probably in his 50s stood and moaned and moaned and moaned about nothing basically. Berating the referee “shambles referee, shambles” “your a bloody disgrace” “you should be ashamed of yourself!” I’m sorry but for 95% of the game I feel the referee and his assistants handled the game quite well doing well not to be conned by the continious protests for decisions that simply couldn’t be.

This isn’t a dig at Leek’s whole support as I generally enjoyed my evening out, just a few of them haven’t a clue on the rules. You could say some of the posters from Leek on here sum it up, not all of them but a few on here.

Good Luck to both sides for the rest of the season and I expect Witton to get promoted.

must have been a witton supporter at the wrong end last night!
