Good all round performance - could have been more goals second half. Super Mike, Neil Black were excellent up front and never stopped running - but that said every one put in 100%.

Good number of wittoners there too - well over half the gate.

Jingle bells, jingles bells…

We deserved that. We made lots of chances.
Neil Black amd SuperMike did very well.
If we keep that up we’ll be ok
Bring on Ashton.
We need a home win!!

Pretty impressive result - thats 3 league wins in reasonable quick sucession - just need to turn in a bit of home form now and people may start to believe.

Very impressive away following for a team bottom of the league as well.

Well done today both on and off the field

Thought Black was extremely lively and Mike just worked his socks off all day. Too many times this season we have seen a lack of commitment and passion, this wasn’t the case today at all. Momentum is the key now, we have to take this into New Years Day and get behind the lads just as much as today. Well Done WAFC.

Zigga Zagga Zigga Zagga AL-BI-ON!
:stuck_out_tongue:

Agree with all comments.

My God ain’t it quiet on here? Shell shocked supporters still recovering from various excesses maybe and of course no moaners posting:laugh:

Not knowing whether our two local papers will bother with Witton again in their next issue thought I’d post my brief report from yesterday’s game for you.

UniBond League Premier Division - Friday December 26th 2008

LEIGH GENESIS 0 WITTON ALBION 2 att. 204 (Played at Warrington Town)

TEAM: Smith; Scott, Pritchard, Booth, Warner; Lugsden, Olsen (Dunne 78), James, Smyth; Black, Moseley. Subs n/u Thompson & Schwarz

Albion may still remain in bottom place but with this convincing victory and confidence increasing as Gary Finley’s newly formed team continue to gel they have now moved a lot closer to the teams just above the drop zone.

Danny Warner, making his debut in the left back role, on 12 minutes provided a great ball, behind Leigh’s defence, that saw Neil Black flick the ball narrowly over the cross-bar. Albion continued pressing forward winning a couple of corners in quick succession. From the second of these in the 18th minute it was DANNY WARNER who opened the scoring producing a gem of an in-swinging flag kick from the right that, with no wind assistance at all, curled over keeper Dean Porter and into the net off the far side woodwork.

Kieran Lugsden fired in a 25 yarder that flew over the crossbar in the 27th minute whilst Greg Smith was called upon to produce a diving save to claim a well struck free-kick from Sam Parkinson six minutes later.

In the 35th minute again it was a dead-ball move, after a needless foul was awarded against right back Richmond Botchey who found himself the first of the three home players booked by the very impressive Bury based referee Neil Greenhalgh, from which Witton extended their lead. Ollie James planting the ball from the left hand side of the penalty area to the far post where Paul Booth charged in to powerfully head the ball against the crossbar before rebounding to the goal-poaching NEIL BLACK who gleefully converted his fourth goal in seven appearances for the Albion.

Seven minutes into the second period James Olsen fluffed a great opportunity to seal the points when, after finding great positioning to the right of the area and one on one with the keeper, seemed to be caught in two minds as he briefly took his eye of the ball to look for supporting team-mates, that in the end saw a poor shot over the target.

The only real chance for Leigh to get back in the game saw Scot Sefton’s strong shot parried away by Smith with Chris Rogers not able to react quick enough before Albion cleared the ball away from the danger zone. With ten minutes remaining a Lugsden corner fell nicely to Booth but this time his header went straight at Porter.

Two-thirds of the Boxing Day crowd had the added bonus of watching Mike Moseley in his 299th appearance, looking back to full fitness throughout, with his link play with Black hopefully reaping rewards before he is scheduled currently to return to Bradford in mid January.

Great report Chad…can you do the same for the 2 games this week, to keep those of us who can´t get to the games fully informed?
