LIAM WATSON

See Liam has left Burscough as they do some financial readjusting. In my opinion this guy is the finest manager in non league football. A dynamic duo of Liam and Nige would be unstoppable and yes I know its probably impossible but I know Liam has a soft spot for Witton Albion and ok we’ve gone down the road to sorting out some of our football side for the coming season but Liam is just brilliant and has performed as manager at every club he’s been at without a lot of finance!
How I wish we could get him in somehow. As they say in the song “Dream the impossible dream”

Hope Andy Nelson has not got " one-eye " on this post.

Have we not had enough Liams for a while ?

Struck a nerve there…Although what Stu is saying makes alot of sense and i completely agree with him. We should be supporting our team as much as we can and getting behind our staff and players so we can accomplish everything we want to acheive and go onwards and upwards pulling through this ‘rough patch’!

Exactly right! Yes everyone is entitled to an opinion, but to be lining up Nige or Andy’s replacement before pre-season training has even started is a little insensitive!! Nige took the job on in difficult circumstances and deserves a little more respect. If i was him and i logged on to this forum to see this thread then i think i would be wondering if all the hard work is worth it!!

And if the point of the post was for Liam to come in and work alongside Nige and Andy, then i would have to ask where we’d be getting the money from to pay his wages!

Jo, yes ultimately you were right and our previous squad ‘bottled it’. The manager has turned out to be a snake, and a few players haven’t shown the Club the loyalty or respect that we feel they should have done. However, while these people are employees of Witton Albion then we have no option but to back them 100%. That is our job. Players play, and supporters support. And at the moment Nigel manages.

Here’s a comment - take it as you wish. Mona you make the point in your post that “Your all too bloody sensetive on here at the moment anyway!!” Then why is it as soon as someone challenges your views - which were wholly inappropriate in the circumstances by the way - you spit your dummy out?? Who is the overly sensitive one?
It’s a trend with the “older” posters on this forum that if people don’t agree with you the toys depart the pram - see WHS for reference.
I think you should bloody well grow up and start acting your age. People disagree but that’s life. Just because you have been watching Witton for however many years does not make you any more qualified to comment on current affairs than anyone else. But by the same token it doesn’t make you any less qualified. That’s the beauty of free speech!! If it’s so galling that people 20 or 30 years younger than you might not agree with what you have to say then don’t post something so insensitive and controversial.

But now is the time to all be pulling together, and not bickering. So Mona and WHS, let’s see you at WP as often as possible this year. Nige and the boys will need your support more than ever.

Mona has every to right to put what he wants. This is not Nazi Germany or Zinbabwe. This is a forum for us supporters to air our views.
Keep it up Mona, this club is for everyone not just the few who post on here.
A man once said “Even though I may be in a minority of one the truth is still the truth”.

God everybody needs to chill out! of course we are all behind Nige 100% and I am sure Nige is sensible enough not to take all the stuff that is spouted on here to heart he probably does not even read it. Trace and I always questioned him last season(to his face )why we had not won a game or why we had played crap and he still speaks to us. Nige knows everyone has a right to there own opinion(whether it is right or wrong).

Robbo just because we are not up the players backsides does not mean we do not support them 100%. I just see you lot get dead involved with these players and then they s**t on you. Let them earn our respect like Pritch has before we hero worship them. B)

I’m sorry but there is no way i can agree with someone coming on here and openly ‘wishing’ that Liam Watson was our manager or assistant when we already have 2 blokes carrying out these roles!!

And yes Jo, players do need to earn our respect. But why else do we go down to WP every other week other than to support them and hope for a good result? Too many people seem to be happier when we fail. Surely that’s not why we keep putting ourselves through it season after season?!

Enough is Enough! Let’s move on if we can. I think the goings on over the last few weeks have hurt us all too much, and we are all still a bit too on edge (and I suppose it doesn’t help when you’re extra stressed, such as when you’ve just become a father, or when you have just been shit on from above by a firm you’ve worked bloody hard for, for many years).

ONWARD and UPWARDS…bring on Worksop

Everyone is entitled to support or worship the players who play for their team as they see fit. And if they end up getting s**t on - thats football. Ask United fans what they now think of Mr Ronaldo as an example. I went into the trafford pub on Sunday, and over the top of a framed picture of Ronaldo entitled “the magician” was daubed the word “c*nt”. Sums it up perfectly I think. Football is a fast changing world. But I will still be worshipping whoever pulls on that jersey next year, just as you will. And those players will leave in the end, just like all who have gone before (apart from BP)

Fully agree with Mona.

Why not air your opinions? To be rubbished by someone else is fine as long as the discussion ensues is entertaining and informative.

By the way, it’s a bit galling to hear people on here talking about “respect” and “sensitivity” Would that be the same “respect” and “sensitivity” that was shown to our former Chairman by the said same parties?

It’s no wonder that the attitudes of certain elements within the club are turning long-established fans/officials away.

Eddie, would you care to enlighten us as to whose attitudes have caused the departure of said officials? Would you like to qualify your statement by citing specific examples of how someones “attitude” has caused these people to depart? Or are you going just a little bit over the top?

‘Fully agree with Mona’

What, that Nige and/or Andy should be replaced by Liam Watson??

OK, if anyone can give a balanced argument for expressing a wish that our manager or assistant is replaced by Liam Watson before the season has even kicked off then i will accept that…

Expressing that wish on here benefits the football club how?

Should we just kindly ask Nige to resign now to save this topic coming up again?

Or should Andy Nelson be asked to step down?

Maybe the manager’s job should have been put to a vote on here? Or better yet let’s get a group of people lined up for the job and then vote them out Big Brother style over the next few weeks?

Nige is working bloody hard to put right the almighty mess that our previous Manager and Chairman have left us in. There’s so much that people are yet to find out, but right now people need to start supporting what we have and forget about what we had or what we might have in the future.

At least things are being run in an open and honest way now, and real Witton fans are playing a significant part in that.

Liam who ?

I’m sorry I’ve caused so much controversy with a post that was basically just an impossible dream of mine. My post was not aimed to undermine Nigel who I have the utmost respect for and talk to regularly. If you’d have read the post you would have seen in there that I rated him as a top class coach. My Dream was (and I must emphasise) it was a dream that a pairing of two great guys each with complimenting strengths would be great for the club but of course in reality will never happen unless I become chairman after winning £10 million on the lottery.
I’m sorry that I’ve alienated our younger element of fans who now appear to carry the main voice in the club. I admire the energy and commitment you are showing for the club which I’ve supported through thick and thin for a long time. Yes it probably does look like I’m throwing my dummy out of the pram but towards the end of last season I really did stop enjoying it and it was beginning to stress me out because I love the club so much and I want it to do well whoever or whatever is in charge. I’m really saddened that we’ve lost great people like Graham and Mike (which again tells me thatsomething is fundementally wrong somewhere), and I feel totally humble and guilty because I was taken in by Jim Vince. I just think in general that football at even non league level now is getting out of hand with its money orientated greed. Because I’ve got other things in my life going on at the moment I don’t really think I’m going to be positive enough for our younger more dynamic fans and I’ll get on everyone’s nerves which I appear to be doing now so I’m walking away a little bit. I’ll still come to the odd match because you just can’t cut yourself off completely and may stick the odd non controversial comment on here(well try to anyway).I really do think people like Neil Wilson, Wincham Rabbit, Robbo and co are the future of the club Neil in particular has the acumen and the sharp brain to go on and make a fantastic chairman.Older mates like Pete Riley, Chad, Sprucie, and a fantastic bloke Pete Robinson will ensure the club remains solid.I think Eddie C sums up my feeling quite well actually and thanks for that Eddie! Joanna I feel I’ve known you for yonks yet your still one of our more very decorative supporters hope I look as good as you when I grow up!I’ve had the pleasure of working for a great bloke and a fantastic manager in you Jeff (Thatched Tavern) and you know what its like having been through this syndrome of still trying to do your best for a company even though you know your for the chop.Cheers for everything but there are other things I want to do apart from just spending every Saturday watching football now!

If as said this is too public a place to post comments or opinions on the club and these will be deemed upsetting and offensive by the team then may I suggest we close this forum!!!

If however this is still a place to debate, discuss and give opinions then lets keep it open and not shoot every one down for coming up with a new or left wing view point.

No body is saying don’t express opinions, but there is a time and a place!! And Mona’s initial post came over like he was already replacing our manager and/or assistant!!!

EVERYONE has a place at Witton, be they young or old, rich or poor, whether they can attend 1 game or 50!!

good luck with your new challenge mona, i hope it all works out ok. shame really cos i will miss the banter with you on match days,:stuck_out_tongue:

for what its worth, i think you do add some sensible posts on here, but the liam watson one was not one of them.

its just a shame about the over reaction it as brought on this forum. totally over the top.

Yeah good luck from me too Mona and i hope i still look this good when i grow up too. No comments from Mr Waterman on that one.:S
