Lostock Gralam of the 1950's and 60's

I am currently writing an article for the Northwich Chronicle (JUST WILLIAM) and I want to mention some of the great players Lostock had at the time. Can anyone remember the team members of that time?

Remembered one name, Gallimore, anyone got any more?

Hope this helps. If you need the christian names then Gordon Knop, who of course played outside left is your man and he’ll be manning the main door on Tuesday should you need to locate him.

Back on 22nd September 1956 Lostock beat us 1-0 (G. Williams) in the F.A. Cup at the Slow & Easy with – some how - 1,710 spectators present who paid £109 to get in.

The “Grey Lambs” team read:- A. Vaughan; W. Crank, B. Hewitt ; R. Tomlinson, K. Goulding, R. Staley; G. Williams, R. Darlington, M. Robinson, L. Lovatt & S. Frith

The team that “whalloped” us 4-1 in the FA Cup on September 7th 1963 at the Slow & Easy watched by a 800 crowd that paid the pricely sum of £61 was:-

Foxley; Goulding; Terry Dunn; Roy Tomlinson, Boyle, John Houghton; Gleave, Buckley, Doug Gallimore, Chesters & Gordon Knop

Gallimore scored twice with Knop & Buckley the other scorers.

Albion got revenge the next season on September 5th 1964 at the Central Ground (sigh) when 880 watched our 4-0 F.A. Cup win. Lostock’s team: R.Foxley; R.Horth, D.Moores; M.Buckley, Alan Coppack, Colin Bowyer; D.Gleave, John Houghton, J.Ditchfield, G.Darlington & Gordon Knop.

On August Bank Holiday Monday in 1966 1,050 paying £104 watched Albion’s 4-0 win in the Northwich Senior Cup and the Lostock team that afternoon read:- Rod Whitlow; Colin Bowyer, Whitney; M.Buckley, Alan Coppack, Boyle; Taylor, Jimmy Buckley, Doug Gallimore, Osborne & Gordon Knop.

I have other line-ups but reckon this may be want you wanted to know. Look forward to reading the column.

Absolutely brilliant Chad, just what I needed, I had forgotten that Les, Stan, Roy and Bill played, know them more now for their Bowling ability, especially Stan.
