I am really annoyed; having been informed my game was cancelled at Over Peover the opposition insisted that I come and inspect the ground which I did, it was perfectly playable but Over Peover refused to play. The upshot was I was stuck at the ground until 2=00pm gone trying to sort out the mess with no success. Had the game been off I could have been at the game today and it looks like I am missing a “cracker”

Any news on scorers and team?
WHS.

Haven’t got any team news as such although there were quite a number in attendance, some didn’t make it onto the pitch. One player who did play though was Paul Booth but don’t know anymore about that.

Witton apparently were 4-2 up inside the first 25 minutes. Scorers as far as I’m aware were Tom Smith 2, Trialist Rick Bailey, Jamie Harrison, Matt Woolley and the other one I’m not sure about but I have heard that it may have been an own goal. I’m sure someone who was there will correct me if that turns out to be wrong. Have just been told that the other goal might have been new signing Danny Andrews but can’t confirm that.

SATURDAY 16th JULY 2011

KICK OFF 02:00pm

Witton Albion 1st Half Team:

  1. Matt Cooper, 2. Matt Fletcher, 3. Matt Herd, 17. Ben Harrison, 5. Adam Bailey, 6 Matt Woolley (sub 21 mins Shaun Weaver), 7. Rick Bailey, 8. Dean Ennion (sub 21 mins Curtis Gill), 9. Tom Smith, 10. Nathan Southern, 11. Jamie Harrison

Witton Albion 2nd Half Team:

  1. Matt Cooper, 2. Matt Woolley (sub Dean Ennion), 3. Matt Wood, 17. Ben Harrison (sub 66mins Adam Bailey), 5.Paul Booth 6 Ollie James, 7. Josh Hancock, 8. Carl Clampitt, 9. Liam Newman, 10. Shaun Colter, 11. Danny Andrews.

On a very windy and at times wet day the game got off to a frantic first 21 mins. In the 2nd min of the game a long hopeful ball into the wind by Lostock caught a wicked bounce on the hard ground and totally deceived the Witton keeper Matt Cooper, leaving an easy task for Carl Wilding to head it on and tap it into an empty net.

5 mins later, a Witton shot rebounded off the Lostock keeper, for Tom Smith to bury the ball in the net for Wittons’ equaliser.

Rick Bailey scored a very similar goal a minute later, and Tom Smith got his 2nd of the match following some fine work down the left by Nathan Southern.

A mix up in the Witton defence saw a right wing cross left by some defenders, only for the ball to skim off the top of Adam Bailey’s head into the top corner for an own goal to make it 2-3 to the Wincham outfit.

A Matt Woolley free kick in the 15th minute made it 2-4 to the Albion, followed by a Jamie Harrison 20 yard shot into the bottom corner to make it a comfortable lead of
2-5 in the 21st min .

There then followed a couple of substitutions by the new Witton Manager, Brian Pritchard, but the 1st Half fizzled out as half time approached.

Nearly the entire team was substituted by Pritchard for the 2nd half, and with Lostock Gralam having the wind at their backs the game was a lot more even, and had Lostock not continually drifted off-side, the score could have been closer.

In the 82 min Danny Andrews received the ball from the left, and on the 6 yard line he shimmied past a defender and slotted the ball home to make it……………

FINAL SCORE

LOSTOCK GRALAM 2 WITTON ALBION 6.

MOM:- even though he scored an own goal ADAM BAYLEY

We have to start somewhere and 6-2 against any opposition is a good start in anyone’s book.

Would urge all Witton fans to travel to Congleton on Tuesday evening. Its a smashing set up. The pitch (apart from the gradient) is a credit to the groundsman. Its like a bowling green. The club house does a good pint and the food at the buttie hut is amazing. In my opinion their facilites are Evo Stick standard (just as good as their neighbours Newcastle Town and Kidsgrove), but getting out of the Vodkat Prem is not easy. Parking is a bit of an issue but if you get there early enough then its not to bad. I’m sure a warm welcome will be extended to all Witton fans. SBL

Missed the game away for the weekend Good to see boothy back hope its permanent and hes fit now, he could be the experience we need at the back, back four looks ok, midfield a bit lacking maybe and I havent seen strikers so cannot judge yet, trying to change my work plans so I can go tuesday if not then try for saturday ! any more views on the new players would be good.
